Hey guys!
My friend is looking to upgrade his current computer. His budget is anywhere from $300 - $500 but he would like to spend as little as possible on it.
His current pc is a prebuilt and the specs are here.
He's looking to upgrade his cpu, mobo, and gpu. He probably needs a new psu, but the one he currently has is 500w (not sure what brand).
He plays mainly csgo, and would like to run it native (1440x900, high or low graphics don't matter).
I was thinking of these parts:
CPU - i5-3570k - $220
MOBO - ASRock Extreme 4 Z77 - $115
GPU -Sapphire 7850 - $180
TOTAL - $515
Thanks in advance!
Here, I forgot to input my PSU. I'm pretty sure its a Corsair but I do not want to reopen my other side of my pc since things are connected to that side.

What brand is the power supply, and how old is it?
The upgrade in the OP would run about every game out at maxed settings, especially at that resolution. If you want to spend as little as possible to play CS:GO you could just get a Phenom x4 955 and a videocard like a 6770 or 6850.

edit: can only use up to a 95W CPU on that motherboard so it would have to be a 960T
something like this

about....3-4 years old. and we dont know the brand, guessing corsair.
Bumping thread, I'd like the upgrades by tonight so i can send the orders out.
You definitely don't want to reuse the PSU. Keep the same motherboard and graphics card as in the OP, but drop to an i3-3220 ($130) and get either the OCZ ZT 750W or XFX 650W. The OCZ has free shipping, a $30 off coupon code, and a $20 MIR. The XFX is a bit more reliable, but is $110 with shipping and only a $10 rebate.
I want a power house of a cpu, you think itll do just fine with the games I have? (CS:GO Bad Company, GTA4) we did not expect to buy a new psu.
if anything, ill just pick up the new parts with aclone's build and buy a cheap psu, how about this? saw it in another thread

Yeah, the i3's are great for gaming on a budget. Especially at 1440x900, it'll be a breeze running everything maxed out. You won't see a huge performance difference between an i5 and an i3 in a lot of games as the GPU is what's used more. I have an i3-2120 and a Radeon HD 7770 at 1440x900 and I rarely see my fps drop below 45 on high even in intense situations.

If you do have the money to get the i5 and the Builder CX600, then definitely go for it.
No, I believe you walrus, thanks alot I think ill take your advice and go with the I3, OP's motherboard and gpu and the highest wattage psu, or do you think the builder CX600 will do just fine, idc i save money either way. I dont care for graphics I just care for performance yaknow?
Well if you live in the UK (you posted the scan link for the 600) then I doubt that the ZT has as good of a sale right now. The 600 would be fine.
If you're ordering from Newegg, then I'd take the OCZ as in the long run it's only $70 (including rebate) compared to the CX600 which is $50 (including rebate). For $20 more you get full modularity, more connectors, and better efficiency as you'd be drawing around 40% power. It also gives you a good upgrade path with no foreseeable reason to have to get a new PSU.
Was there anything wrong with what I posted? You acted like you wanted to spend as little as possible.

Also you really do not need a 600-750w PSU, I don't know where that's even coming from, it's' a waste of money. The 500w silverstone I posted is plenty power for these mid range cards.
Will the silver stone work be plenty for build that Im starting to work out?\
and no, Shadaez your build is amazing, but i dont think its going to run to the ability im thinking of.
The range can go up to 400$ for the minimum since i got confirmation on that number if you want to build something on that range which would be nice!!!
Yes the silverstone is fine.
Is your case standard ATX?
im honestly not sure Shadaez, it came with a pre-built

There are a few different ways you can go with this, like getting the 960 I linked earlier and then you won't need to purchase a new motherboard, so you can put more money into a better videocard.
Or if you wanted a better CPU and a 7770 you could do that, too.
I'm not recommending a 750W PSU because it's needed, I'm recommending it because it's an amazing value. There's nothing wrong with getting a great PSU for nearly half of it's retail price.
on a limited budget like this it's a bit of a waste

would the msi mobo reliable or should i go for something abit more expensive but not too ball bustingly expensive.
yeah, it's reliable, the only reason to get something more expensive or better is if you need the extra features like extra SATA 6 ports, extra RAM slots, overclock/intel RST/etc, things that don't really change performance directly.
