• Freezing ram?

Ok today at school I was talking to a friend about a kid in our computer programming class who thinks he can hack into a computer from the command prompt by typing in my IP address. Anyways my friend started to say stuff about how he could hack into somones computer by putting a "Acoustic key-logger" or by freezing there ram. Now when he says Freezing Ram he means you grab a compressed air can, hold it upside down and spray the ram. Then you take it out, put it in your computer and decode it. (He said all of that.) Is that possible in any way shape or forum? I think he is all BS really. Mods. If this is in the wrong place please move it.
If you are even considering that RAM can be frozen without a power source, please listen to him.
Yea man, it's totally possible. When you freeze the ram, it keeps all the information stored in the cells. You can then decode this super easy by running the frozen memory through a Hex Editor, and you can see stored passwords and shit. Knowing your password makes it really easy to hack computers. And you can hack computers by typing in an IP address. It's called telnet.

Completely and total bullshit.
Actually, you can physically freeze ram. Doing this would help to grab sensitive information from it. Its something that you have to perform really fast. You don't want it to thaw too early, or you'll lose the information you want. I don't know all the details about what you can do by freezing the ram, but I know that it's possible. Here is the Proof. By cooling down the ram it takes longer for the information on it to decade. Its possible.

Also the kid thinks he can hack into someone by going to start run cmd and <Your IP here> type thing.

Acousitc key logger... Is that some sort of device that uses minute acoustical differences in key sound to log all keypresses?
You can do something like
ping 192.245.45.31 -l 666666
For a little DoS :q:
Acousitc key logger... Is that some sort of device that uses minute acoustical differences in key sound to log all keypresses?
It connects between the keyboard and the keyboard input plug on the motherboard.
Cool story bro, a+ would read again. (User was banned for this post ("meme crap" - Jaanus))

Wouldn't he just then forge proof and post and then laugh in your face?
Wouldn't he just then forge proof and post and then laugh in your face?
Damn strait! Then when you're down on the floor, I show you naked pictures of your mother! But seriously. I myself think it's possible, not only because of the proof :smug: but also, because I've heard of it being possible outside of the internet.
Your friend is a fucking moron. Telling his friends he's "hacking" something when he's pinging the IP with cmd doesn't make him a hacker.
Hacking someone's computer in other countries gives you the ability to teleport through their monitor. It also temporerally blinds them long enough for you to open the case, freeze the ram, take it out, and go back through the monitor. I mean seriously, what's hacking have to do with freezing ram?
Have you guys never heard of cold boot attacks D: [editline]12:09AM[/editline]
Completely and total bullshit.
Your anime avatar adds to your believability.

i've heard of this being possible, never seen it done, so ill always have my doubts. but the moron isnt hacking your IP, if he's just pinging it. Sounds like an idiot to me.
Trust me. He is.
We do, we do.
No matter what he does.... an anti-virus will outsmart him every time.
tell him this "gb2/g/"
I guess it would be kind of possible if you could freeze electricity.
I saw a bunch of what he said on HackaDay. They are mostly concepts, though the people who created that RAM hack were interviewd by boingboing. I'll see if I can find a video.
