Absolute horseshit to have to play a different and worse game just to unlock something in the other game. It's like being forced to play TF2 to unlock something in Dota 2. I hate this shit and HOTS (not the SC2 addon) is alright but at its core it's such a weak game. I bet they'll do it again in the future. Instead of improving their game and make it more fun, they just "force" their players to play that game to increase its population.
The concept of this doesn't inherently bother me as games have done plenty of similar things in the past, for example playing MGS Ground Zeroes can get you stuff in MGSV or having DXHR and L4D getting you stuff in TF2. The part that's most egregious to me is that it's timed, like the Genji skin. Unless they've since changed it, who knows when, if ever, we'll be able to get that skin again.
it'd almost be like having to buy another game in order to get cosmetics in TF2 or Dota 2
Except not having to pay for it so there's really nothing to complain about lol Not only that nobody is being forced to play the game, it's just a stupid skin and a few loot boxes.
Except not having to pay for it so there's really nothing to complain about lol Not only that nobody is being forced to play the game, it's just a stupid skin and a few loot boxes.
that argument is pretty silly. the aim is pretty obviously to lock exclusive stuff behind another game and thus get people to play it. furthermore by spreading it out over 4 weeks, they're trying to build it into a habit on top of having well-known characters release in that time too. the problem is it really pisses off both crowds more than anything, because if people going for the skins are just trying to "get it done" in the first place, they're not going to even try to have fun. it's pretty much become a meme between my friends that whenever the enemy's playing super poorly we joke that they're "just here for the skins". it pisses off overwatch players who just want to get content for their $40 game in the $40 dollar game they paid for and it pisses off hots players because you do get these people who just want to get their content and dont care how the matches turn out.
I just feed when I have to play this game for rewards
I just install it on my laptop, party up with my main PC, and do bot matches while making sure I don't time out on my main
