• How do I underclock my card?

I've been trying to underclock my card using RivaTuner, but the settings don't save for some reason. All I am asking is some assistance in underclocking, as I believe that is the root problem of my card issues right now. Can anyone help me out a little? I've never overclocked, or underclocked before.
Overheating? Make sure the ain't much dust in the PC. Or try installing the latest drivers.
Overheating? Make sure the ain't much dust in the PC. Or try installing the latest drivers.
I've installed the latest drivers, and I clean my PC out regularly. The average temps are; 40C idle 70C-80C under heavy load
Odd. But 80C is high.
Well that's not really bad
nTune can do it.
What card do you have?
Odd. But 80C is high.
How does 100C tickle your fancy. My GPU cooler is that fucked most games (not source engine for some reason), will push it up to 100 on a bad day.
OP, those temps are fine for most modern video cards. Yes, it's a bit high, but nothing that you should worry too much about. You're having other problems.
Those are more or less like my temps, it's fine.
My card is a BFG GTX 285 OCX. Overclocked by BFG, which is why I think it's doing this:
My old video card did the same, it died about a week later.
could just be a faulty card
I've never dealt with a faulty card before.. how do BFG handle things like this and what can I do? How long can I expect some sort of return/exchange?
if your card is overheating at stock clocks, or failing at stock clocks, RMA it. Don't bother unless it's out of date. BFG is amazing. If you RMA a card they don't make anymore, they'll give you a better card/best card they have. (at least that's what happens to quite a few people on the internet) they are really nice about RMA so just do it

Something very similar happened to me 2 times already. [editline]09:24PM[/editline] What I would advise as last resort, is carefully but powerfully cleaning the contacts of the PCI connector on the cart. I mean these golden fields that you stick in the slot. Rubbing them with normal eraser rubber works well.
no just RMA it
Looks like the video ram is fucking up.
