It's too bad there's no money to be gained from releasing vulnerability fixes for older versions of iOS. Some of the older devices are still really usable.

What older devices specifically don't support iOS 11? iPhone 5S and up support it, iPad Air gen 1 and up support it, all Retina-capable iPad Minis support it, all iPad Pros support it, and the latest gen iPod Touch supports it. The iPhone 5S and Air 1 were both released in 2013 and that's eons ago in technology years. The Galaxy S4 was released in 2013 too and only supports Android 5.0.1 (officially), and I doubt Samsung is still releasing security patches for it, so I don't know if I'd fault Apple that much in this instance.

Previous gen iPod touch. I know the niche for its hardware line is a lot smaller than it used to be, hence the increasing time between iterations. I don't mean to discredit Apple's decision at all. I guess I'm still stuck in a desktop OS mindset for mobile devices. I'm not saying my 5th generation iPod touch should be supported as long as Windows XP. It just feels like a waste for decent hardware to not get this patched.

Ah yeah, that has the A5 chip and Apple doesn't support any of their 32-bit products anymore unfortunately.
