Is it possible to convert an Outlook.ost to a .pst file?

We found many missing emails on the Exchange 2010 mailbox for a previous employee. The backup is not available but we found a very current Outlook.ost on a desktop computer. We don't want to open his Outlook on this computer since we are afraid once opening Outlook and syncing to Exchange server, the current mails will be gone. His AD user account is still alive. Is it possible to convert an Outlook.ost file to a .pst file so we can access it?
Try Open outlook on the computer with it disconnected from the internet then export it as a .pst file

Try opening it in Notepad. You might be able to read the raw message.
Can you not login as him on the local machine, pull the network cable before opening Outlook, and then open Outlook? I can understand you not wanting to sync with Exchange - I'm not 100% sure how local Outlook profiles integrate with Exchange but if you sever the connection won't Outlook just fallback to offline mode? From there, export the PST?
