• Harddrive is only detected while case is on its side.

I've been having some problems with my desktop. I've got a new power supply on order from newegg, as I was having power problems while playing games, where my computer would just shut off if anything got very demanding on my gpu. I've done temperature tests and all sorts of things, and it hasn't overheated once, but, before I can deal with that problem, I need to deal with this brand new one. Basically, my motherboard only detects my main 120gb drive with Vista home premium on it, while it's on its side. If I sit the case up, even with the side off, it isn't detected. This would probably mean a cable or something is getting tugged on as it sits up, but I can't find anything that's getting pulled on at all, and nothing is contacting anything to cause a short etc. Is there anything else that could be causing the problem? nvidia gtx 275 amd athlon 64 fx-62 2.8 ghz dual core cpu 4gb ddr2 800 ram 120gb seagate drive 500gb seagate drive
The position of a hard drive shouldn't do anything at all. You say the cables are fine, but I'd go about trying a different sata cable altogether. It may not seem loose, but there could be some kind of a fault in the connector itself that is making it lose contact when positioned differently.
Make a backup of the HD, in case it's a HD issue. It's unlikely but do it anyways if you care about your data. Also buy a new SATA cable.
