• Windows 7 installation problem

Guys I need help My dad bought a TravelMate 5742Z laptop made by Acer. It contains Linpus Lite (or something like that) Linux based OS. My dad doesn't really like it, so he wants Windows 7 and that's where the problems begin. I have installed Windows 7 on like 3 computers with no problems and this is making me mad. I boot the windows 7 CD on the said laptop. I select all the shit. And when it goes to partition selection it starts to fail. It says there are 2 partitions of disk 0, both are called 1 and 2 One's 4gb and it's type is system The other's 294gb and primary The problem is, it says at the bottom "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1" The format and shit options are greyed out Same goes with partition 2 When I ask for details it says "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is of an unrecognized type" What the fuck do I do Do I need to delete the partitions or something, because delete option is available. I really don't want to fuck up. The laptop is like 2 hours old and my dad would murder me if I fucked it up (ok, maybe he won't murder me, but he would surely murder my wallet). Please help. [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] In boot order the DVD rom is the first to boot if that changes anything. [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] Also, in this case, what would happen if I deleted the partitions mentioned?
Yes, delete the partitions, then hit format, use NTFS.
[QUOTE=Protocol7;32408671]Yes, delete the partitions, then hit format, use NTFS.[/QUOTE] After I delete the partitions, will they be displayed as "unallocated space" or some shit? [editline]21st September 2011[/editline] Ok, deleted partitions and Windows is installing. Thank you for help. The thread can be closed now.
