I'm not well-versed in terms of laptop components, so I thought it would be best to ask H&S. (FYI I live in the US).
So my friend tells me he needs a laptop for $1500 or under with a screen longer than 13''. The most demanding task he is going to be doing is playing hulu videos on it.
Otherwise, he'll just be using multiple instances of Word for his schoolwork. Now I'm pretty sure that it doesn't take $1500 meet these requirements, so try to find the cheapest possible laptop that can do all these things without a hiccup. Thanks in advance.
go with a Macbook
they will do fine for school and for playing Hulu videos

well he has 1500 dollars and also he wont be gaming and doesnt need to build a pc so..... plus a macbook is nice when it comes to looks. and it has to seem like a plausible idea doesnt it?
the entire idea of the thread is not spending a ton on shit that's useless to him
Just find a cheap Acer EEE..
yah thats what i would do because he doesnt need anymore than that
I'd have suggested he looks at a netbook if he didn't specify he wanted over 13", not everyone is comfortable using a netbook (especially for long periods of time) myself included
netbooks are way to small and they dont feel comfortable in your hands

Going to look through Acer's notebooks and see if you guys would approve of anything.
The Aspire series look promising...

it looks pretty good to me but do you really think he needs 4 gigs of ram and an i3?
Well, it's running at a cheap $730, but I'm pretty sure he can manage with a Core 2 Duo (maybe even a pentium?) or something. Let me take another look.

Another reason I chose that particular notebook was because it had a decent battery life.
