So yeah, i already know the GTX 470 does better preformance wise but is the heat a big problem? Will it decrease the carfs life, heat up my entire case (CM 690 II Basic) or heat up my cpu (H50)?
It has heat problems.

If you live in Las Vegas, can't afford AC, and if you put it next to your fireplace.
it doesn't have heat problems, people are fucking retarded
Yeah mine idles at 39-41 and with load, hits at very most 80, but the 470 and the 480 are rated up to 105 so unless you enjoy gaming next to a burning building or live on the sun then there is generally no reason to worry about the heat problem, Turn up the fan speed if you really find it necessary

Depends of the model card. If the cooler is on the middle of the card, no problem about heat

I have 2(470s) in SLI and In furmark they top out @ 72-73c on air... although I want to OC so I'm getting a water loop.
May I say one thing? I perfer the GTX 460. I bought one and I love it.
no heat problems and the gpu is smaller than the 470.
