About a month after I got my eee pc, the fan starts making this grinding noise whenever it's turned on. At first I didn't exactly mind it much, but now it pretty much pisses me off when I hear the grinding noise. I started using sensors and messing with settings with that and found that the fan will start with it's normal whir and then after a while, it'll go to it's grinding. I can set the two trip points at 56 for the minimum and 57 for the maximum and it won't make any grinding noises, but it'll start up the fan for a few seconds, stop it for a few seconds and repeat which can be equally annoying, however that's only if I'm idle. Another thing I do is pretty much play music loud enough to drown out the fan noise, but this is only temporary fix.
What I'd like to do is have a custom fancontrol script that can help with the noise problem and keep the temp as low as possible. I'm not all that great with CPU tempuratures and I'd like some advice, tips, suggestions on things I should do when creating the script and modifying the trip points.
