http://www.ziddu.com/download/9579764/Untitled.wma.html Randomly when there is power on the hard drive begins to make this tapping noise inside of the PS2. It lasts a minute or two then stops, then comes back later. Should I be worried?
Any harmful stuff (To the PS2) near your PS2? (eg. Microwaves, Hair Blowers, Water, ect)
Nope.
I take it your hard drive came with the FF XI bundle, right? It's a head crash or your drive is preparing to shit a brick and crash. Sony just HAD to use the infamous (for their high failure rate) Maxtor Slimline and if it dies, you will have to find another one (40gb Maxtor slimline) to do a PCB swap (the sony-branded drives uses a different firmware and a slightly different component layout but mechanically they are identical) and then use the utility disc to format and reload the drive.
No, it's a different IDE hard drive. I don't know the brand right now, but I don't think it's dying since it works perfectly.
