Well, it certainly looks old. (shit)
Looks like a mobile phone game with some more cash thrown into the background art.
I don't get it. It looked so nice in the promos but now it looks so... underwhelming.

Yeah because old looking games are always shit.
Sarcasm guys.

Not always but many old games do look shit.
I rather like the art style, but some of it does seem a bit rough around the edges.
I'm reserving my judgment about it until it's actually be shown more outside of a short trailer.
Nothing struck me as looking bad at all. Infact i think that was pretty incredible for the amount of time they have had. It looks better than Baldur's Gate 2 and i still think BG2 looks great, so.

This means Dragon Age: Origins, Wasteland 2, Dota2, LoL, and Starcraft 2 all look like like phonegames and look like shit because of their camera view

It was sarcasm.

No, I said it looks old. I didn't say it looks like an old game.
It looks aged, outdated, shit.

No, because they aren't a bunch of poorly put in sprites with shadows underneath them.
They have actual 3D models and scenery, the models are physically in the scenery, have well done animations and visual effects and react to the geometry of the scene "perfectly".
This is a bunch of 3D-rendered sprites ontop of an image that throws a silly shade on the image and disregard most of the geometry represented in the background image with poor visual effects to boot.
I've seen mobile phone and Facebook RPG and MMORPG games that looks about the same, just a reduced detail level in the art.
dgg, yer dumb. the character "sprites" are indeed 3d models. also, this game isnt even in alpha yet, theres still over a year to go untill release.

3D-rendered sprites
Like in Donkey Kong Country. Those are 3D models as well, but sprites. Images of a model, not the model itself in the game.
but the character arent sprites, they are legit 3d models on a 2d plane

Well, they certainly did a fine job making it look bad.
