Keyboard and mouse inputs freeze up frequently in games.

Frequently in games, my keyboard and mouse input would freeze up completely for a few of seconds. I bought CS:GO in the Summer Sale yesterday, and I haven't been able to enjoy the game at all because of this. I know for a fact my keyboard and mouse aren't faulty, as this problem only occurs in games, and they both freeze at the same time rather than independently.
In Source games with Raw Input enabled, mouse movement is still accepted. Without Raw Input enabled, mouse movement also freezes completely.
This happens in most Source games, and some others I can't recall from the top of my head. I've been searching for a solution since yesterday, and I've finally decided to ask here. Any ideas?
And this doesn't happen at all outside of games? Sounds like it could be a graphics driver or a problem due to a background application, especially if your keyboard or mouse has any software with it (e.g if you have a Microsoft mouse/keyboard you might have their software)
It's not something you should normally do, but this situation is where the lazy workaround of setting the process priority to realtime should actually do the trick
Alternatively play around with different usb controllers/ports, reinstall windows, check the state of your disks, etc
