• Black screen when launching games.

PROBLEM SOLVED, but give it a read anyways because what the hell So, today I suddenly have this problem, I cannot launch games because they make my whole computer black out, even the sound stops. Now, I don't have much patience but I've tried a couple of things, and weirdly it's only things that are qualified as games that makes it crash. League of Legends launcher (Adobe Air) - Blackout, restart required Minecraft (Java, OpenGL) - Blackout, restart required TrackMania 2: Canyon (DirectX) - Blackout, restart required Non-games 3D Studio Max (DirectX/OpenGL and Vray which is very CPU intensive) - No problems at all (wtf) VLC running a 1080p video - No problems at all Firefox doing just about anything - No problems at all So for some stupid reason it's only in games this happen, and I am very annoyed. My PCs specifications: GPU: Gainward GTX 480 CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ stock clocks RAM: 6GB XMS3 RAM in triple channel HDD: some cheap Samsung HDD PSU: Corsair 750W OS: Windows 7 64x Also, I've tried running HWmonitor and there's no signs of overheating at all. Besides, I don't get why 3Ds Max doesn't crash the computer when the damn League of Legends LAUNCHER does it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [editline]9th December 2011[/editline] Okay, I've been doing some experiments: Experiment #1: What I did: I put the GTX 480 into a friends computer, we tried to play Mirrors Edge for a while. Result: It ran without any problems whatsoever. New hypothesis: Either there's a driver fuckup on my part, or the PSU is dying. Experiment #2: What I did: I put my friends GTX 280 in my PC and tried running something that made my PC crash the previous time around (TrackMania 2) Result: No problems whatsoever. New hypothesis: I'm pretty sure it's a driver fuckup now, but there's still a tiny chance that it's the PSU since the 480 uses a bit more power than a 280. Experiment #3: What I did: I connected my GTX 480 back into my PC, but before I reinstalled the drivers I decided to test it out in TrackMania 2 again. Result: ... No problems whatsoever? Conclusion: Computers work whenever they want to.
Okay, the problem has returned. Or well, a similiar problem. This time, it happens 5-10 minutes after I've played. I tried this in both Deus Ex: HR and GTA4 and got the same results. Now, I also ran some temperature checks with furmark, the absolute maximum I hit is 94C, which from what I gather normal for a GTX 480, so I don't think that's a problem. Besides, the actual games do not stress the card enough for it to even get nearly that hot. Do anyone have any clue what it might be? Just to sum it up: 1 - I launch the game 2 - I play for 5-10 minutes 3 - Screen turns black, tells me there's no signal, and the sound hangs up.
94C seems like it's way (way) too hot. How is it ever getting that hot? In all honesty, I think it may be the computer overheating, then hanging up (black screen, sound stop and shutdown).

Besides, it hits about 80C when in games, FurMark isn't comparable to games.
Okay now it stopped happening again :I You know what, when this happens next, I'll just shut up about it because it goes away.
