GTA San Andreas crashes my friends computer at startup.

He bought it during the sale and he can run it. He uses vista. And when he goes to launch it, it'll say "launching game" and go black and then crash.

He's re-installed it, modified comparability modes. I think it may be a driver thing, or he should set it to run in windowed.

I can't help him right now, but your advice is for later. So, I'll be able tear suggestions in a little.

I have the same problem, but on Windows 7 where it's much more critical.

I've heard that setting it to run in compatability mode for Windows XP fixes it on Vista, and setting it to run in compatability mode for Windows 98 fixed it on Windows 7.

Okay, possible solutions I've come up with/discovered:

Update drivers
Run in lowest resolution or windowed
Delete the gta_sa .set in My Documents/GTA User Files
