Well... duh. The unique control scheme of the Wii U requires a game developed for that control scheme... not just a port of a mouse + keyboard setup.
I can see Starcraft 2 (or other RTS' really) working somewhat well with something like the Move or WiiU. Probably not the kinect though. Sometimes you just need something physical with buttons to play with.
How could they forget?

this article is hilarious because it's just the SC2 designer going "ugh this is terrible for SC2 and so is thing thing and maybe if something really awesome happened it would work but these clearly won't"

If I remember correctly Starcraft 1 was ported to the Nintendo 64 (Or was it the SNES?) which had HORRENDOUS methods of control.

It was 64 and I played it and it was atrocious

it'd work better than a gamepad but i don't think "work well" is a good way to describe it. hotkeys are pretty much always going to be better
