I saw a deal at EBgames today offering these, -250GB Xbox 360 Console -Kinect -Kinect Adventures -Kinect Carnival Adventures -Forza Motorsport 4 -Battlefield 3 All that for AU$468, A friend wants to buy all the kinect stuff for $150 so in total i'm only buying it for AU$318 2 AAA release with 250GB console worth it? Y/N (Mind you I do have a decent computer before you guys start letting out suggestion about getting a computer instead. I'm only buying it because i want to play coop games with my friends that has xbox) This is the right section yeah?
Not worth it. They break and the community is pure shit
Not worth it. They break and the community is pure shit
I would say it is worth it, despite the fact that the machine itself is probably the most unstable out of all the current generation consoles. Essentially the "shitty" community only shows its head if you decide to play the more recent CoD games or possibly GoW. Also, the Xbox has some good exclusives as well, such as the aforementioned Gears of War, Halo [sp]Oh god, he said Halo was good![/sp], and Fable (if memory serves me correctly). The online store is also the most "up to date", with most publishers publishing to Xbox first, and possibly porting to PS3/Wii later. All in all though, it's your choice. If you want to get an Xbox, don't let a predominately PC community tell you otherwise.
They're still a great machine, with a massive back catalogue of games. Do it.
Technically since BF3 and Forza 4 is 109.95 EACH. I'm only paying $100ish for the console. So.. yeah I think I'm going to go with it.
No. A PS3 for the same price would be the better console alternative.
I don't understand the whole thing about it being unstable. I've had literally 1 Xbox 360 die on me and it was from the absolute first generation. In fact my Wii has given me many, many more issues. I've had to get it repaired twice.

I've had my Xbox for about 3-4 years now, and it has Red Ringed twice, the disk drive quit reading disks, the disk drive also quit opening at one point, and it has froze on me on several times, too many to count.
Sickle says: No. A PS3 for the same price would be the better console alternative.
Still though, even if it has built in blu-ray, I have a general dislike of how they handle online, and I typically don't like the PS3 exclusives either (except for LBP and Infamous).

Upgrade your PC instead. That is if it is not already suitable for gaming.
They're good consoles but having to pay for multiplayer is really annoying. Also there's no built in wireless so if you want to play online you either have to use an ethernet cable which can be insanely annoying depending on where your router is or pay 100$ for a wireless adapter.
The 360 has 7-8 year old technology in it. Just wait for the new one to come out. But that is a good deal either way.
Unless i'm mistaken all this Kinect and PSMove shit was made to extend the life of the consoles for at least another 5 years. So I don't see how hunkering down 300 bucks will hurt if it's something you're going to enjoy.
Get better graphic and video cards for your computer, consoles are not worth it and you don't have to waste money constantly buying new ones.
Depends. If you have alot of friends who have it, I'd say buy it. I've had mine since 2005 and I really don't play it too often.
Yeah, I mostly play games on my Xbox 360 because my computer is really shitty. If I had a really good computer, I'd probably forget all about my Xbox
I say PS3 because it's cheaper and most of the ub3r 1337 kids are attracted to the Xbox moreso. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] Also Kinect is comprised only of you flailing your limbs around like an easily excited functionally-retarded child.
Just get the elite and buy the games yourself. Kinect blows since there are no good games for it. And it only breaks if you don't take care of it. #1 rule: DO NOT KEEP IT IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE example ______ |xbox| That is a bad idea and it will break.
It's probably a better bet then the PS3, I'd say yes.
no
If you like the Halo series then yes.
You should just upgrade your computer, most games allow more slots for online play like Battlefield 3 (64 players) and Grand Theft Auto IV (32 players). You also have access to mods and a computer is more reliable overall.
Like i said, I have a decent computer guys. It's good enough for Battlefield 3 I'm thinking of upgrading to the 7950 (when it comes out) So a PC upgrade is not really an option right now. Besides now in my living room i have more party games. [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] oh shit sorry for the bump
You're not going to get the answer you want from facepunch. It seems like a good deal, I'd do it if I didn't already have an Xbox.
Most people will say no just because they got sticks up their asses for the PS3 or PC. Some will actually give you a legitimate reason not to get one. I like my xbox, great community, worth the money you pay, and overall some really fun games. Fun for gaming, don't be too serious about gaming though. In my opinion the PS3's interface is terribly slow and laggy, 90% of players do not use mics, and honestly (I'm not racist or anything) there are always either mexicans screaming spanish into their bluetooths or some black guy deeply breathing into his mic. Hell that'll happen occasionally on xbox too though. This is coming from a guy with a PC, Wii, PS3 AND Xbox 360. So I'm not biased on any console. Also, with the slims there are not nearly as many RRoD or overheating problems as there were with the original Xbox 360 or Elite. It's not like PS3's didn't get just as many yellow lights of death or fan problems. The Xbox 360 slim i quiet, wireless connection (just like a PS3), and really just an enjoyable system to have. If it were to be your first console, then the Xbox 360 would be a pretty good choice. Maybe purchase a PS3 later on if you're looking for more experience. But you're really not missing out on much. After all, as far as gaming goes, the two really are not that much different. Besides exclusives of course.
Yeah, I bought it yesterday. Now i'm just borrowing games from friends to have more games to play. I'm glad I purchased it. Dad and my little brother having so much fun on Forza 4 at the moment.

Im surprised that there wasn't a huge shitstorm in this thread. Good for you, facepunch.
I've had 2 xboxes, the first one being 1 year after launch. It later red ringed due to me moving it while I had a running disc in the tray. My xbox that I have now has not red ringed at all (even though I'd much rather get the newer ones since this one heats the FUCK out of my room) [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] Also it's pretty loud compared to the newer ones.
I'd get a PS3 if you want to play top notch exclusives. But if you wanna just shoot other people in online games, get an Xbox 360.
