I'm gonna be that guy, sorry lads. I have no fucking idea what's out there and I'd be grateful if you guys could lend me a hand. So basically my budget is as stated, $1500 - $2500, so a really decent computer in all aspects. (I don't give much of a shit about hardcore gaming). Pretty much looking for a PC version of a Macbook Pro Retina (Or anything similar since they exclusively? have the super high pixel density) Minimum specs I'm looking for is the following: CPU: i7-4600HQ Storage: HDD/SSD Doesn't matter, but SSD 250GB + is preferred. RAM: 16GB DDR3 GPU: GT 750M Screen: 1920x1080 IPS (Can be touch screen). Glossy finish is best too. 14" - 15" Optical Drive: Doesn't bother me, can have none. Battery: Enough so I don't have to be a hermit Weight: Please god nothing over 3kg OS: Windows 8 Case: Must be almost completely metal, not looking for any plastic fantastic laptop. Needs to be durable and look pretty sleek, MacBook Pro sorta' look. Also is it possible on win8 to switch off discrete graphics and use integrated on the fly to limit power consumption? Thanks guys! (:
I'm pretty sure switching between discrete and integrated graphics is a bios feature, not something an OS can emulate. Some desktop motherboards have a feature called virtu which uses integrated graphics for simple things like rendering the OS desktop and discrete for anything performance intensive, but I'm not sure if anything like this is available in laptops.

However in 3D games it's re enabled?
Nvidia has technology called "optimus" that allows you to switch between integrated and mobile graphics or turn either completely off. It's available in the nvidia driver itself, so any laptop with a new intel+nvidia will have this available regardless. The 750M is terrible for a 1500-2500$ laptop, regardless of metal body or not. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a 765M for that price.[sp]I'd find one for you if i had more time today[/sp]
The New Dell XPS 15 seems like it fits your requirements.
Just curious but what would you guys think of the ASUS R552JV?
Alien ware ?
On a serious note that laptop seems good.
