HDMI -> DVI running to Monitor from Xbox 360-- How Can I Get Audio from it?

So, I have an older Xbox which I intended on using for GTA V; however I'm running into an issue with audio out. I believe it's the 2nd version, since it has HDMI but no optical audio.
Since I'm running from HDMI to DVI into my DVI monitor, sound is obviously not being carried through the DVI. I'm aware you can do audio on component, but the video looks like absolute shit on a 23'' monitor and I'm not willing to do that.
I heard you can plug in both the component cable + HDMI, but you have to take off the plastic casing on the cable and the success rate is pretty low.
Are there any alternatives that I can purchase like a relativity cheap cable or something that can split audio from the HDMI cable to RCA for the audio?
They make an Xbox 360 audio adapter...

Is this it? I Googled before posting, I couldn't find much on the topic for some reason.
Yep, that's it. It basically just pulls audio out of the AV connector.
Alright good, I knew it was a bad idea to rip apart my current cable. Thanks.
