So I got PhenomMsrTweaker to undervolt my Phenom II 955 Black Edition, so I can keep the temps a bit lower and my CPU fan quieter until I buy some aftermarket cooler. So, is there any guide on this? Just by looking at it, it seems fairly straight forward, but I thought I'd ask. So I just set the voltage for idle under P3 state and voltage for full load under P0 state and that's it? What are recommended voltage? The default one on load was 1.4000 I think and idle is 1.0008
Lower it by like 0.05 volts and run something like prime95 for a good long while to make sure it's stable, if it's stable bump it down another 0.05 volts till one of the prime tests fail, at which point raise the voltage a bit and run prime95 again. Basically find the lowest voltage it remains stable. As for idle voltage, shouldn't be necessary to lower it unless you have abnormally high idle temps, in which case your problem is likely poor mounting of the cooler or insufficient airflow due to dust or broken fans. To make sure we're on the same page, abnormally high idle temp is like 60 degrees. 60 degrees is a typical load temp for a decently cooled computer.
My idle temps vary from like 32 to 35 and the room temperature is 24-25c, I guess that's an ok idle for a stock fan? And I'll do what you said, but I'll only tweak load voltage. Thanks. Oh and load temp, while playing The Old Republic just now was around 50-52c at stock Vcore of 1.4000 Come to think of it, that's not even close to Tjmax of the CPU which is realistically around 65c I heard.
P0 is the load state, I recommend only two states as more than can cause severe Vdroop without LLC on and it's not worth the constant voltage switching, P0 will kick in even if just one thread is under a decent amount of load (low threaded games) so you're not going to lose performance with two states. Keep P0 as your normal overclock/stock speed with the same voltage, then have P1/P2/P3 all the same with all of them having a 6x multiplier with 1.2v and 1.15v Northbridge. And make sure to disable C1E and Cool & Quiet in your BIOS and Enable the "Custom cool & quiet" option under "Service" in the program.

These temps are absolutely fine, they're even almost pretty good, why are you even bothering doing this?
Come to think of it, you're right. I guess the temps are quite good for the stock cooler, so I dunno why the hell did I even think about twiddling with this. Lol. Thanks guys!
