Sounds fun. EA hasn't been particularly scummy lately so what the hell. EA has loads of money to spend, a AAA the likes of GTA V with a developer that doesn't hate fun might be good.
Until they brought it up I never realised how weird it is they don't have a franchise like this.
It'll be several years before anything comes out of this but whatever they make could be alright
just don't have ubisoft make it for fuck sake

What? Why would that even happen?
What? Why would that even happen?
don't they publish for / work over ubisoft? Unless I'm mistaken, which I probably might be

You are horribly and completely mistaken, I don't see how and where could you have ever even gotten that idea.

It's like saying that EA publishes Nintendo games.

The Saboteur?

considering how ubisoft and EA are both painfully shitty with DLC's and microtransations it's pretty easy to see where it could come from
any open world game being drowned in DLC would ruin its taste really
The Saboteur?
Keyword 'franchise'. The Saboteur was a single game and the studio was liquidated right after release, not exactly the cash cow EA wants.
The Saboteur?
oh shit i remember that game
didn't it have a dlc for tits
oh shit i remember that game

Technically, but it was a DLC that came for free with every copy of the game. I guess they just used that get around whatever age rating changes it might have caused if it was just in the game by default.

You're a bit mistaken on what EA does, there is EA the games Developer then EA the games Publisher. EA the Developer is the one that's talking here, they own the studios like DICE and abuse the fuck out of the Frostbyte engine.
EA has in the past Published for Ubisoft but thats Publishing not Developing. Publisher and Developer are two whole different things, one makes a product, the other ships it.
i can safely say im not all too excited about EA be it publisher or developer
then again i jerk off to companies like CDpRED
An open world game on the Frostbite engine would be rad as fuck. I mean Christ, even on low settings, Battlefront looked absolutely gorgeous with the little details like how snow builds up on your character/weapon and how on Sullust had seperate, yet awesome-looking dogfights between the rebels and the empire in the sky.
Having an open world game with those kinds of details would be bloody awesome aesthetically. Gameplay is also important, but I just can't get off on how a Frostbite-based open world game would look like in the future.
as long as Bioware doesn't make these i'm all fine
It might be good, but one of the things that makes GTA good every time it comes out is that it's actually had a lot of time put into it.
If they do decide to make one they need to not rush it. Pushing it out to be released for a specific time to have it compete with some other franchise is what so many games do that make them end up feeling shitty.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is open world and thats on the Frostbite engine. The original looked gorgeous, even when comparing it against modern day standards for graphics.
Isn't the new Mirror's Edge open world?
if i had just read the post above me maybe i would have found out

You're really educated about the video games industry
You're really educated about the video games industry
I have a degree in vedeo gams
As long as they follow the GTA approach moreso than the Ubisoft approach I totally support this
I'm in the boat that sees "We want to make an open world game inspired by GTA and Assassins Creed" as "we want to make a $60 game where you can buy in game money and/or skip in game grind by paying real money". Because I find it HILARIOUS how NOW, when those two thing are what defines modern GTA and AC are when they decide to do so.
Maybe EA can put their own spin on open world.
Because as it is, after Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V, and the yearly Ubisoft releases? I'm already burned out on the genre sub-type.
But this is EA so to get the entire game we are looking at over £50 for a "season pass" to unlock areas
Please don't go full Ubisoft and make a radio tower climbing simulator.

Relax.
You'll have to pay to do that. :v:
Oh cool, I wonder if that's the other thing that Respawn Entertainment is working on. They say they're doing a Titanfall sequel but they said there's some other project they've been working on.
