Yet another build, wanna run components by you guys

Well I have a shopping list that I'll hopefully order within the next week, as some of the deals end september 30th, but I wanna show you them first and see if you have any suggestions. I'm also torn on a graphics card. I wanna keep it under 700 with shipping.

and one of these cards. The 260 is better, but should I buy a recertified?

Get this for the GPU:

It's only marginally more expensive than the recertified 260, but still better.
Anyway, that CPU is a bit weak. For your price range, I would go for a phenom II 720.
also, you're not going to need that IDE cable, your mobo will come with some.
[editline]02:26AM[/editline]
And you don't need dominators. They're overpriced.
[editline]02:26AM[/editline]
Putting together something now.

Also, willing to go cheaper on the case? Antec 300 illusion is always my suggestion for mid towers. It's as high quality as all the more expensive mid towers, much cheaper, and nowhere near as ugly.

yeah why not
691 after shipping to where I live, don't know what it would be to where you live. Should be similar, unless you live in Hawaii or something.

Nice! I like it, the one thing I changed was the case to the version with blue leds, just cause I love the lights. It's 5 dollars more, and it brings the total with shipping to my house to 701. A perfect cost!
I saw you put ddr3 in there, is this a lot better? Will I be able to run gmod without any problems with only 2gb of ram? or should I maybe allot an extra 40 bucks for 2 more sticks?
I put DDR3 in there because it's required by the motherboard, not because it's better.
Most games will run great with two gigs of RAM. but hold, up, you can get that card without the combo deal and this 4 GB kit for only a few bucks more.

yeah i'll shoot for the 4 gigs, thanks for all the help!
Get this instead of the 260 (a tad faster): [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150436&cm_re=4870-_-14-150-436-_-Product[/url]
how does this compare with the combo you showed me?
[url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.262208[/url]
it's quad core, and the same price
and I guess i'd need to find different ram for it, is it still a nice motherboard though?
it is good, if you know how to overclock it, the cache hurts it but if you can overclock it (should go to 3.6) it is a good purchase
Seems like a decent build to me,just you might wanna increase the PSU for future upgrades :D.

Deal's expired.
Well I'll just go for the phenom II then...
So I have plenty of money, but my mom wants me to focus on "school work" and won't let me buy it. Do I:
A. come up with a convincing argument (need help here)
or
B. buy it anyways... probably not a good idea, I could just order it as soon as I head off to college next year, but thats much too far away.
Buy it anyway. It's your money.
[editline]07:26PM[/editline]
It is your money, right? Not crap you've mooched off your parents?
Or give her an argument that it won't go out of date so fast.
Damn, I wish I new how to built a computer. Any tutorials out there or something?

A common example is putting Lego building blocks together.

Yeah I can't stand people who mooch. I do have a job, and earn every cent I have.
But yeah I think, as motivation, I'll let her know I'm buying it if I get honors for the quarter, that way I'll be working hard in school, and if I still want it in late october, I'll know it's definitely something I want.
Also, I'll be that much closer to the holiday deals
Here's the build I'm getting, for $423.92

That's a good build.
It is a good build, but remember, I didn't include parts like a monitor, RAM, or a CD drive because I already have them, so it's by no means a complete build.
