I remember when I was a kid I would have to type so slowly and I would have to look at the keyboard. It's instinct now, but did anyone ever learn to touch type or did you use your own method?
I was forced by Nazi-esque computer lab teachers to play stupid typing games that were so poorly mad that I considered cutting off my fingers. But then I wouldn't be able to fap so I grinned and took it. My sanity still hasn't recovered from the trauma.
What is this thread for anyways? But I touch type like a boss.
Played this cheap game at school that was about typing. Basically, typing game.
We were taught at school but for only one year and it didn't help at all. I learned by myself.
It's instinct now, but did anyone ever learn to touch type or did you use your own method?
I got used to "touch typing" by myself, but I definitely don't use the standard touch type method. When I was in my ICT class a while back one of the first things we learnt was to touch type, and I was always being yelled at because I didn't have my fingers in the right places. I was supposed to have my left hand on asdf and my other hand on jkl; (I think), but my left hand is always on left shift, a,w,d and space. :v: Needless to say I wasn't changing my way of typing for a shitty ICT class when it was much more comfortable to me using my own method (and I was used to it).
I "finger peck" It's where I press like one key at a time, I type at like 50 words per minute or something. [editline]48348[/editline] How is this funny.
I use both the "home row method" and the "find and pick" method, I don't even notice when I change over. To be honest I was LITERALLY born touch typing, I haven't done any other style.
I never use homerows, I use WASD, shift, and space. Puck the police

When i was using it back in elementary school, i thought it was godawful.
I learned how to touch type. Schools tried to force us to use homerow keys, completely hindered my typing speed and increased my amount of errors. Went back to touch typing and went from 40 wpm to 80-100wpm (if I'm trying). Oh.... touch typing is without looking at the keyboard? Well in that case I'm more like half and half.
I'm still half way between hunt/pick and touch typing. As in I can just touch type if I need to, but I'm about 20x faster when I can see the keyboard.
I just taught myself. Never had any help from school or anything. Just thousands of hours of talking to people on MSN when I was a kid and stuff I guess.
I learnt how to touch type by playing video games. When you are in a desperate situation and need to act fast, it is obligatory of you to remember where all the keys are. Well, that is how I learnt to touch type.

Fucking forced to learn this shit for a god damn hour per god damn day when I was younger.
