• Xbox not turning off when turned off via controller.

When I hold down the button on the console, it turns off, but when I turn it off with the controller, it does like a "fake" turn off. The lights all go off and the inputs don't work, but the console's still running. The disc is spinning, the fan's on, etc. It makes the same amount of noise it makes when it's on, but it's supposed to be off. I confess I didn't just google this, but quite frankly I'm not sure what I would google to even come close to an answer. Hopefully someone here can help.
It's borken.
Did you happen to have a controller plugged in via one of those Play and Charge kits? I had this happen to me the other day and I had two controllers plugged into the front USB ports. Also what model is your Xbox?

I haven't actually tried it without it being unplugged...hm. No idea what model it is. [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] It's newer, though.
I checked Google. Looks like the two main things that cause this are. 1. Having a Play and Charge kit connected. or 2. Having background downloading enabled. Looks like this is normal behavior.
Ah. That explains it, then. Thanks.
