p cool
There is an experience point system, but it is used as a way to unlock gear, such as larger backpacks, different skills, or new character models.
Sounds interesting being able to earn a better backpack rather than only being able to find it.
It mentioned safe zones I can see this being a camping spot for trolls and dirty players just waiting for players to leave at a distance away from the turrets. Hopefully it will not work out like that.
And not having perma death on Normal mode will be a nice way for me to be able to play a game like this without fear of losing everything. I will probably play Dayz for the hardcore experience and The War Z for a lighter experience.
In spite of the less than stellar gameplay videos I remain optimistic about this. At the very least it'll give an alternative to DayZ, which, on the ARMA 2 engine, runs like arse on my laptop.
Excitement
This sounds like it could be the zombie game I've always wanted. I hope building a safe zone is extensive enough to be creative and cool.
Looks really good! It's like DayZ created a whole new genre (more or less).

Weren't most of these new zombie games in development before DayZ got popular?
I hope they replaced the sounds since i last saw a gameplay video

dayZ is a shitty sellout, bohemia didn't even have it on a decent sale during the summer sales, the greedy bastards

It is impossible for them to have it on sale as it is not even a game yet it is still a mod.

Bohemia knows pretty much all of the recent success the game has made was solely because of DayZ. They know even if they don't do a big sale, people will continue to buy the game because people want DayZ.
And of course food and hunger has to be represented by a bar.
It's like I could just stick a dipstick in my ear and it will tell me how hungry and thirsty I am. STALKER did it the best with the icons and indications that you were hungry, not a full on bar.
Still, that is a minor nit-pick. It looks like an alright game but the room for error is massive so I will remain cautious.
I remember Arma II Combined Operations being on sale this year, before I knew what Day Z was, so yes, they had a sale.
Also, the studio producing The War Z was formed at the beginning of this year, and they started to show screens and stuff quite around the time that Day Z became popular. Then Day Z made a splash and who knows how much of the War Z development was shaped by Day Z.
Also, Day Z has atmosphere.

Stalker did it in exactly the same way but instead of a bar you had icon with changing color. Wow so much different. Not sure what you're even crying about here.
WarZ is fishy as hell. I mean, if it is what the devs say it is, it will be awesome, but I definately wont be preordering it.
Lol are people really still thinking it's a huge scam?
Lol are people really still thinking it's a huge scam?
He isnt saying its a scam. Just that there is a high possibility of it being shitty due to all the stuff the devs have been pulling.

Most off any content in WarZ is retextured stuff from War Inc. Battlezone.
Saying that they were developing this before DayZ is a lie.

Most of the materials used in L4D were seen in HL2, so obviously Valve threw it together after hearing about WaW's zombie mode.

Yep, most of the stuff is from the terrible war inc, but just with zombie ai, i really doubt that they spent the amount of time they said that they spent on it, because they can just slap some zombies onto something. and then say that they spent years on it, even though the company has only been in existence for a bit.

Hate to break it to ya but you can't build a "triple A game" in 3 months. By that logic HL2 Episode One was built in 3 months because it re-used a bunch of assets but we both know it wasn't build in 3 months. So you can't keep saying it was built due to Day Z's popularity, and in some cases that might be true, but not enough to warrant it being built in such a tiny timespan.

If it's well done and fun I personally won't care, and PC gamer's preview seems to say it's pretty decent

A game that's in super early alpha is using a bunch of placeholder assets? Well that can't possibly mean anything other than that it was put together in a week.

Most don't care they reused content.
I just care it can be a sign of how bad the game may be.
L4D used content from an amazing game. WarZ is using content from a terrible game.

That was made back when we only had screenshots, if you read, that man actually believes the game never existed and was a scam to "get our money" despite the fact we never had pre-orders open, and really, a website register domain date, are we REALLY going to be using that as an indication of when the game began production? That's what we call grasping at straws folks.
Besides, the forums did more digging than this guy did and found out something even more interesting
