Just tell us your budget, we'll get you a list of parts and you can put it together (which is easy). Also 'Mac Pro' is too vague, there are many variants.
Don't even attempt gaming on a Mac unless your happy with Source games.
Never get a Mac if you are going to be doing any gaming. If you want a desktop go to the PC building section and someone will help you find the best parts for your budget or if you need a laptop then we should be able to help you with that too. but for the love of god don't get a Mac if you intend to do any gaming.
Location and budget please.
that's the base Mac Pro, if it was a desktop build that would cost about £400 not £2000 if you have that much money to waste you can get an amazing gaming rig compared to the shoddy specs of that (you're paying for a terrible OS* and a fancy case, really) [sp]*in my opinion[/sp]
Just install Windows 7 on it because it simply just works, it's much less of a hassle. And I know you've written before that you don't want Windows on your computer, but if you want something that plays games, this is your solution. You're not even going to be using Windows much other than starting it up and clicking on the game. Also, post the specs next time "mac pro" doesn't mean shit when you can customize it as you want.
I've always sustained that Mac is an overtly shoddy operating system. The fact alone that it is £2000 for sub-par hardware is absolutely ridiculous. Build your own with that amount of cash.
CrossOver sucks. End of. Been there, used it. If you buy a Mac, just install boot camp and use that.

That's not even a fucking SandyBridge build
bargain
It even has free delivery.
bargain
It's bloody ridiculous, £4,000 for a computer with a £100 GPU?
i still want one for FCP7 and Avid MC editing
It's bloody ridiculous, £4,000 for a computer with a £100 GPU?
Xeons are pretty damn expensive, so you shouldn't really be looking at the GPU.
let's remeber this is a professional workstation, not a gaming computer [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] the people that use these can afford to spend that amount, and the hardware is what they require. the Mac pro is a workstation/serverGet a pc
Don't even attempt gaming on a Mac unless your happy with Source games.
He certainly CAN game on a Mac, far more than just source games. BootCamp, y'know?
that's the base Mac Pro, if it was a desktop build that would cost about £400 not £2000 if you have that much money to waste you can get an amazing gaming rig compared to the shoddy specs of that (you're paying for a terrible OS* and a fancy case, really) [sp]*in my opinion[/sp]
You realise the processor alone (being a Xeon) is worth about £1000 alone?
He certainly CAN game on a Mac, far more than just source games. BootCamp, y'know?
Then what makes it a mac? It's essentially the same parts as a PC, just with a different operating system. That pretty much says "you can game on Mac, but only if it's a PC".
And I think Mac Pros use ECC RAM, further driving up the price.
You realise the processor alone (being a Xeon) is worth about £1000 alone?
The rest of the parts are far from worth 1000£, though.
The rest of the parts are far from worth 1000£.
Of course not. But it's far more than £400.
Of course not. But it's far more than £400.
Definitely, I'm not arguing that.
My budget is 3000 Bucks. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] Also, inb4 Fatal-Error
It's alright, although you'd get better performance by dual-booting Windows with BootCamp. On the other hand, if you haven't bought the Mac yet, just build a nice gaming PC with far better specs for far less money.
Regardless, a Sandy Bridge Quad Core would easily outperform a Xeon in games. For $3000, you'll be able to max any game out there at a massive resolution. That Mac Pro would have trouble getting High settings on a normal resolution.
I don't feel like building a PC it's too much work for me
If you plan on gaming, you get a go on hackintosh, as you'll be able to build a beast PC for 3000$. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
I don't feel like building a PC it's too much work for me
Okay, that's fine, get someone to build it for you.
So you'd rather spend thousands on a Macbook?
