• Any chance of seeing IPv6 support on Facepunch?

Apparently CloudFlare are introducing IPv6 gateways on all sites using CloudFlare. Any chance of seeing this being enabled on Facepunch?
Probably, hopefully, but right now there's no advantage of using IPv6, but having an option to switch it on at any time is a good thing
There are more and more ipv6-only networks (mine for example), that require a special proxy to be able to communicate with the ipv4 part of the internet. Ipv6-support should be a default these days.
What benefit would it have?
The site would still work when they turn the IPv4 switch off
That's never going to happen, they'll just both continue running side by side.
Honestly I'd rather see HTTPS support before IPv6.
Honestly I'd rather see HTTPS support before IPv6.
Garry would only need to get a certificate for that.
You're forcing HTTPS
is that bad
is that bad
No, just that it isn't true HTTPS
The site would still work when they turn the IPv4 switch off
Wait holy shit who's they?
Wait holy shit who's they?
ISPs around the world
Wait holy shit who's they?
Are you familiar with the the concept of people who provide your internet access and also the people who can serve web pages? They can willingly choose to disable the normal IPv4 system (123.456.789.123) system in favor of the IPv6 system (2001:0db8:85a3:0042:1000:8a2e:0370:7334) if they see fit. We can expect a change over period as of like the transition from analog TV to digital TV if the government decides to do it just the same for the internet infrastructure considering the IPv6 system will prevent the whole exhaustion that the IPv4 system is presenting, or a period that the any new devices on the internet cannot connect because there's no more IPs to give to a new device.
the worst part about ipv6 will be having to join game servers by ip
the worst part about ipv6 will be having to join game servers by ip
Edit your hosts file.
the worst part about ipv6 will be having to join game servers by ip
DNS should also have some improvement on this. A free DNS service is better than nothing I suppose
Okay, this is a completely, 100% serious question. Why did they skip over IPv5?
Okay, this is a completely, 100% serious question. Why did they skip over IPv5?

Version 5 was used by the experimental Internet Stream Protocol.

No, just that it isn't true HTTPS
Why is that not true HTTPS? It is signed, and as far as I can see, everything is running through the secure protocol?
Why is that not true HTTPS? I haven't heard of IPv6-only networks with IPv6-to-IPv4 gateways, anywhere in the western world, but I know they're common in Japan etc.
???
A lot of content is loaded unsecurely through HTTP when using HTTPS on Facepunch, and last time I checked, YouTube videos failed to load when using HTTPS (because they're hardcoded to HTTP addresses).
