• Is this Processor Compatible with my motherboard?

*UPDATE* Alrighty then, I managed to get my computer working once more after finding out the processor I bought last week wasn't compatible with my motherboard. Thus, I sent it back and New Egg was nice enough to give me a refund. Now, I have that refund and don't want to make the same mistake. I have done my research but I want to ask the people of Facepunch's Hardware and Software for their opinions. Okay, I found out that I was looking at the wrong section on the CPU support list on the Motherboard's page. If it says N/A on the side it means it is not supported. Thank god I didn't buy the one I was looking at, anyways. This thread is now for suggesting a new CPU then, since I need one. I will edit this post with any I have found and it'd be nice if any of you out there could take a look. My Processor: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2287# I have a 700 Watt power supply which should be fine with what I'm going for. I might as well also state that this is quite the upgrade from my processor I have now which is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+. Anyways, I guess that's enough information for now. Ask if you need more.
It should
Go for the Phenom II X4 955 95W.
Here's the thing, on New Egg I can't find the 95 Watt version. I've been looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808&cm_re=Phenom_II_X4_955-_-19-103-808-_-Product Yet, It says it is not compatible sadly.
Why isn't it compatible?
Why isn't it compatible?
Because his motherboard only supports 95W CPUs, not 125W.
Alright, here's the deal. I'm done with looking for a new processor for this motherboard. I'm just going to get a new one and start off new. I'm also going to get a new processor as well but want to keep all of my other things. Such as my memory. Now, I guess I'll be going off on my own to do some research. Thanks anyways.
To be honest unless you want to go AM2/AM2+/AM3 you won't be able to keep DDR2 RAM
