My first thought is that they shouldn't be compared.
My second thought is that DA is shit compared to witcher.
I don't see how they'd try and compete considering they're separate types of RPG?
I mena obviously I'd say that both TW1 and 2 were obviously better in practically every respect compared to DA2, but I wouldn't be able to compare DA:O with TW.
That, and I have my doubts regarding the quality of the next DA game. DA2 let down so many people and, instead of stepping back a few paces from the first game, fell off the side of a cliff and in to the deepest depths of the sea.

Geezus, people make Dragon Age 2 seem like it was the herald of the riders of the apocalypse. Dragon Age 2 was not the worst game on the planet. Coming from BioWare it was a pretty big letdown, no doubt, but if it came from another studio I doubt people would be hating on it has hard as they (still) are now.
It's so fucking pretentious of Bioware to compare themselves to CD projekt, especially after three fiasco games in a row.

Well no shit. Chances are if Dragon Age Origins never existed and DA2 was the first entry of the series, people would have just seen it as a failed opportunity. But this is the second entry of a promising series that took everything likeable about the first game and threw it to the fucking grounds. Same reason why Mass Effect 3's ending is so infamous and hated. If the first game turned out to have a shit ending and be the end of the series, people would not have complained as much because Bioware would not have wrecked the potential of an entire franchise.
The people at bioware have made ruining promising franchises their speciality and this is why Dragon Age 2 is easily considered one of the worst games of its time. Context matters a lot with games.
I consider Dragon Age: Origins to be one of the best RPGs ever made... Same with The Witcher 2.
The Witcher 1 and Dragon Age 2 on the other hand...
What competition? It may as well just be a beatdown. Bioware cannot compete at all anymore. They've lost their edge.
Ugh why would anyone want to play the witcher. I bet they don't even shoehorn awkward gay relationships in their games. What a bunch of losers

Does lesbian count as gay
Because there is that one scene where you just walk into two lesbians having bdsm sex all over the place.

the gay thing is irrelevant, they shoehorned awkward stilted relationships in there and that's enough

The thing with the witcher is that all the sex and most of the amorous stuff is completely optional and telegraphed noticeably but believably, unlike the recent bioware games when you can accidentally end up balls deep inside some awful ditzy elf chick.
As for having problems playing as a heterosexual male - weird as those may be - the witcher doesn't really beat you over the head with geralt's sexuality unless you look for it. It's an aspect of his character which you can choose to not pay attention to if you like.
Dragon Age: Inquisition competing with The Witcher 3?
Bioware, you're so full of yourself.

All the sorceress you meet (save Triss obviously) are Lesbian too, seriously, all of them.
Now the proper way to play the witcher games is as Geralt the manwhore. He saves the Kingdom/World through sleeping with as many women as he can. Geralt is competing against Dandelion for supremacy. While Dandelion had a five year lead on Geralt, he just can't match Geralt at work.

You totally missed my point, petrosyan.
the gay thing is irrelevant, they shoehorned awkward stilted relationships in there and that's enough.
But dragon age 2 is notorious for its cast of gay character that will constantly try to sleep with you.

Not the first one, I think (just my opinion) that the first Dragon age was better than TW1 & 2, but that's also because I love it being "Modern" baldurs gate.

Not to mention the first game treating the whole sex thing just like pokemon.
It was cheesy as fuck but at least it was amusing and perfectly aware of itself.

you had one point, one that was factually disproven by the article

Yes but it's more the fact that every character regardless of percieved sexual orientation, personality, situation or creed will have sex with you so easily it can be accidental. Them being bi isn't a problem in itself, it's how it's used in the context of the game.
i liked dao tho it wasnt balanced that well. i dont know shit about dai but i hope its good. and the wtitcher 3 too. i hope thats good too.
There is no comparison, Bioware should focus on Mass Effect, their flagship title because CDPR wont at least best them in the sci-fi genre, that is maybe until Cyberpunk comes out.

So that's why triss was kicked out of the lodge of sorceresses.

Well to be fairly honest it's pretty funny to see how Hamburger Helper just showed up for dragon age 2 and everyone instantly started slapping each other's dicks :v:

Honestly after mass effect 3 and with the lead writer of the two first games gone I don't think Bioware can pull off another convincing ME title. Everyone will just avoid it like the plague.

i'd say that was more to do with the fans rattling bioware's front gate shouting 'HEY GUYS IN DA1 WHY CAN I LEZ OFF WITH ONE CHAR BUT NOT ANOTHER? AND WHY CAN I ONLY ENGAGE IN DICK SWORDFIGHTING WITH ONE GUY?'
basically try to please everyone and you'll end up pleasing no one

Oh man, my first time playing through DA2 I did it as Anders' suddenly homosexual lover by complete accident. I just wanted to help the guy save people and I was afraid that he'd leave the party if I didn't rip open his anus
that's pretty adorable that bioware thinks they even compare to the witcher
Oh man, my first time playing through DA2 I did it as Anders' suddenly homosexual lover by complete accident. I just wanted to help the guy save people and I was afraid that he'd leave the party if I didn't rip open his anus
I accidentally romanced Liara by talking to her on the Citadel in ME3. I don't think Bioware knows how relationships work.
o hello another kneejerk headline reaction thread
the only fucking thing that is talked about in the article is how nobody in bioware wants to compete against anyone
meanwhile the thread is full of people yelling "how dare bioware compete with the witcher, arrogant pricks"
stay classy FP
Well if Dragon Age Origins was continued in its own distinctive style then I would say that the Witcher series of games shouldn't really be compared since they're very different and they both have great qualities to them. Which in the end, just becomes a matter of preference but Bioware lost the ball with Dragon Age 2 and hopes aren't high for Inquisition so Witcher is clearly the stronger series of games.
However, it's good that Bioware isn't flaunting its dick around and saying that its new Dragon Age game will become a direct competitor to The Witcher 3.
Jesus christ it's like no one even read the goddamn article
Seriously, going "hurr bioware bad" is kinda dumb when they're not comparing dragon age to the witcher.

The writer at Bioware was asked about The Witcher series. Also you're just as bad as the people you're complaining about.
