• Need Gaming Laptop, Headset and Mouse <$4000 CAD

I apologize if any of this is poorly written, I am currently doing this from my phone as I do not have access to a computer with internet. I do know that desktops are better for gaming in many ways but they would not be ideal for me because I am currently travelling a lot. My budget is $4000 CANADIAN, ideally though I only want to spend enough to get the best bang for my buck, try and avoid the extra fancy stuff that just tacks on price if you can, but I'm leaving it up to your guys judgement so do what you guys do best. I want a laptop that will be able to play games like Battlefield 3 and company of hero's on full settings. I also like to play all the source games like Counter Strike. Ideally looking for something can be picked up in a local shop and doesn't have to be shipped, but if it has to be shipped then it has to be shipped. I also wouldn't mind getting a good gaming mouse and headset as well. I would be doing this myself but I don't have time to do all the research and searching the web on a phone is also a pain in the arse. I also know nothing about laptops at all. Thank you in advanced for all the help and suggestions.
and people call me crazy for spending 1k on a gun [editline]1st May 2013[/editline] also i do not know how to computer so i cannot help you OP, sorry but these fine men and women and otherkin will probably be able to help you
Honestly, $4000 is a lot more than you should spend on a laptop and some peripherals. $2000, maybe $2500 seems to be the highest you can go before it stops really rewarding you. That's easily enough for a full HD 17" screen, a high-end (but not top-end) Intel i7, a GeForce 680M, a decent SSD and a hard drive for mass storage. Certain things to look for: Make sure you get a laptop with four RAM slots. Go for 16GB - a full 32GB is wasted at this point, but 16GB still gets you some reward over 8GB. If possible, have it configured as 2x8GB, letting you easily upgrade by just popping more in there, not swapping stuff out. Go for a GeForce 680M or 680MX. That's the best you can do with a single GPU - anything higher is a dual-GPU solution, which means roughly fifteen seconds of battery life at full power. Although if you're willing to sacrifice a bit on settings, you can do with much lower - my 660M runs CS:GO maxed-out, and (while I have not tried BF3 yet) runs medium-high to high on much more demanding games. Get a dual-band WiFi chip. Basically, look for a/b/g/n compatibility. a/g/n or b/g/n won't give you full bandwidth. And it's really not that much more expensive - like $30. Easily worth it to go from 15Mbps to 150Mbps. Getting ac support (ie. a/b/g/n/ac) might be nice as well, but the standard is still a "draft" right now and there's little router support. An SSD+HDD combo is essential. Although for $4K you could probably afford a decent amount of storage with just SSD. But I would recommend a 120-250GB SSD paired with a 750GB-1TB hard drive (you can find 7200RPM drives up to 750GB, but to get 1TB in a laptop it seems like you have to drop down to 5400RPM). You might also want to use an mSATA SSD paired with two hard drives. Avoid Asus at all costs. Just trust me on this. Fuck. Asus. As for which specific one to get, I don't know. I have an Asus (see above paragraph), so I have no experience with these, but I have heard good things about Clevo and Sager. Might be worth checking them out.
I tried to take everything you said into consideration and found this laptop http://m.futureshop.ca/defaultpage.aspx?lang=en#/catalog/ProductTabContent.aspx?sku=10241974&tab=Tab_FeatureSpecs&lang=en-CA Thoughts ? I also forgot to mention I dont want windows 8. I hope the link works because it was copied from my phone, sorry if it doesn't.
That will be a beast of a machine but the battery life will be poor.

You'll quickly get used to the metro screen, and if not, lots of start menu replacements + it runs more fluent than Windows 7. However, will respect your opinion regarding Win7/8. $4000 is a lot for a computer you're only going to play games with average graphics. BF3 for instance is merely the same looking as BC2, just with a lot of shaders and lightning effects. Are MSI gaming laptops anygood? Due to my location I'm not able to get to a store that sells the laptop I wanted before so I'm considering getting an MSI laptop. I also cannot order online for I do not have a credit card or a solid address to ship to. Sorry I can't give you a specific model for I do not know which one I will be getting.

However, it's on Windows 8 if that is a big no no for you. Could probably put Win 7 on it instead if you want that.
