While playing different games, usually games of the Stalker Series, randomly my graphics card will stop sending anything to my monitor. At the same time what I think is it's fan, all of a sudden speeds up allowing me to clearly hear it. The graphics card is a Nvidia 9600 GT, not overclocked in the slightest.
Do you have the latest drivers? Do you meet the power requirements? Is there any dust or other debris clogging the fan/heatsink assembly?
Have you checked to see if it's not your monitor? A failing backlight may cause the monitor to go out seemingly randomly.
The monitor, I believe is fine. As I said it only happens when in game, not just doing random shit on my computer. I'll check to make sure I have the newest drivers. And if I did not meet the power requirements, wouldn't the card just not work? The fan on the card seems to not be going very fast at all, nor seems to have much power to it. As in I can easily tap it with my finger and stop it.
Not all cards will stop if they don't meet the power requirements, they will just stop when they can't process all they are given because there isn't enough power.
Well I will be 100% honest here. I'm not exactly the best with the hardware of a computer, I know I have a 500 watt power supply, and a my card takes 96 to 59 watts.
Went and got a quick Win7 gadget and now I know my GPU is running around 54 C or 126 F.
Just checked the site for the full specs of the card. My power supply meets the minimum 400W system power requirement.
Ok your ok for power requirements. Try dusting it out if there's anything in there.
After carefully removing the card and dusting it it swear the fan is going faster. I'll test it here in a bit.
It's also now going at around 41C.
Eh, decided to install the newest drivers just in case. You never know.
Dust can cause them to run at temperatures 10+ degrees hotter than usual, i need to clean mine out.
