So I'm using Ubuntu and I want a program that will read text aloud to me. I've looked into Festival but I'm a noob and don't understand any of the tutorials which all look like this

I've also tried eSpeak but the voice was shit and I couldn't see any replacement voices.
Can anyone either tell me how to use Festival in a novice-friendly manner or point me towards a different program?
