I saw a really nice laptop today at MediaMarkt: [B]eMachines E730G[/B]. I've heard eMachines is crap though, is this true?
That one is really good for the money it seems, it could run crysis at medium/high, and no notable lag.
It costs 780$, is it worth it? I'm just gonna do schoolwork and play some Minecraft on it, it should handle it, right?
Would be great to have replies before tomorrow :buddy:
Specs?
You won't need a very powerful rig to play minecraft.
Intel Core i3 350M / 2.26 GHz
500 GB - 5400 rpm
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (512 MB DDR3 VRAM)
3 or 4GB DDR3.
that should play minecraft fine.
Good. So this is worth buying?

Don't expect to play Crysis on a laptop with an average budget.
[editline]24th February 2011[/editline]
Oh you're Swedish sorry
I'm not gonna play crysis on it, they just had a benchmark running.
And i don't live in the us so prices are really corrupt. 1130$ for the second one.

Very good specs for Minecraft, bad for Crysis (maybe on low/medium with some lag). Look for better brands such as ASUS, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, and MSi.
They don't really have a big selection, since it's a multipurpose store. They're usually the cheapest too so i would go with them.
And as i said, i won't play crysis on it, but some gmod/tf2 on smaller lans would be cool.

Yeah TF2 and Gmod should run fine on medium/high. I still recommend getting a different brand, such as the ones I said before or even Dell.

iirc they only had emachines, asus, acer & vaio. and mac :v:
for a hundred bucks i could get a warranty that says; if the laptop breaks i'll get a new one with the same retail price.

Try to get an ASUS or Sony Vaio. Get anything besides an Acer. I guess the eMachine is ok, but what is the regular warranty other than the $100 one you just said.
Schoolwork and Minecraft? Don't waste that much money.

Well I see your point. Any dedicated card can handle Minecraft, even a 4250 will run it.

By the way this is Swedish currency

Minecraft is CPU heavy, not GPU.
Minecraft lags like fuck on my school laptop, don't want it to happen with this one.
The vaios they had's got the worst trackpad ever, there was some kind of pattern on it so you had to like press harder for it to work.
I'm not the one paying, but i still feel guilt for it, so i don't really want anything over like 700$. I'm just bad with numbers.
Too bad they don't have a list of all the laptops, i guess it would be hella easier then.
[editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
Well, we bought it anyways. 4GB of ram though.
I'll see if i can run anything on it, else i'll just turn it in.

True. I'd go for something like a 4250 at least with a dual core going at a good clockspeed (at least 2.3 GHz or something).

The 4250 is an IGP. eMachines is owned by Gateway, which is owned by Acer. Considering eMachines is a budget brand, I think it's priced fine.
It works great, and i get ~110fps in minecraft. And it plays 1080p movies over network with no problem.

4250 is integrated yes but it is the least I would recommend.
Well shit.
