Geezus, if I had a gun to my head and had to buy a pre-built machine, iBuyPower would be the last fucking place I would order one from.
All Steam games at 1080p and 60 fps? That doesn't mean much at all, and obviously doesn't apply to every game.
Geezus, if I had a gun to my head and had to buy a pre-built machine, iBuyPower would be the last fucking place I would order one from.
why is that?
why is that?
Their service sucks and most of the time their computers are poorly put together such as loose hard drives.
All Steam games at 1080p and 60 fps? That doesn't mean much at all, and obviously doesn't apply to every game.
Running any game at 60FPS 1080p isn't too hard with the GPU/CPU the steam box has. Plus, they never said it had to be anything higher than low settings :v:

Metro: Last Light, for example, is incredibly hard to run at Ultra settings on some of the best hardware available today.
Their service sucks and most of the time their computers are poorly put together such as loose hard drives.
Then it must be your own nearby ibuypower place then, because I bought my computer around 2008 off of them and I don't have many problems as you guys sounded like.
All Steam games at 1080p and 60 fps? That doesn't mean much at all, and obviously doesn't apply to every game.
Some hardcore paraphrasing on shack's part, they said the hardware was capable of playing 1080p at 60 fps
I got an iBuyPower and the only problem I had with it was the liquid cpu cooler died and I had to buy a new cooler, other than that it is a great machine.
A friend bought an ibuypower a few years ago and it was well put together without costing much more than buying the parts themselves. Wire work in particular was great. The only issue was a couple of years later the liquid cooler for the CPU shorted out. As it turns out iBuyPower is somewhat known for skimping on the cooling with most of their systems coming with off-brand liquid cooling. I'm wondering how they over come heat dissipation and some of the bigger parts like disk drives, GPUs with large heat syncs, large power supplies, and RAM. And if they solved all of that can I just get the case? I wanna take my current build and cram it into something the size of an xbox. And Alienware sorta did that with the x51. So I'm wondering if Valve's got the same stuff with their logo on it or if they've actually got all this awesome stuff to fit.
I thought steam machines would be something like valve-made xboxes but it turns out they're just tiny PCs with SteamOS built by third parties?
As odd as it sounds, they might actually be able to produce these at a higher standard of quality than their custom-built PCs. Think about it. The custom machines have to be assembled, per order, by someone who may or may not be more trained than your average McDonald's employee. The Steam Machines, on the other hand, can be mass-produced, since there's little variance in the product configuration. It might mean problems that plague their custom lines may not be present in the Steambox.
Geezus, if I had a gun to my head and had to buy a pre-built machine, iBuyPower would be the last fucking place I would order one from.
Uh do you even have a reason
all i see is that glorious steam controller
Their service sucks and most of the time their computers are poorly put together such as loose hard drives.
Service doesn't mean shit, as long as they give you what you're entitled too, which they will, nothing else matters. A loose hard drive? The occasional mistake is bound to happen, and a loose HDD doesn't even matter
Uh do you even have a reason
Myself and several friends all bought iBuyPower computers and every computer had issues from not being put together well enough (hard drives not being secured, RAM not even being pushed into the slots all the way) to video cards dying every four to six months like clockwork to severe heating issues. Easily some of the worst computers I've ever had to use.
Well it looks nice at least.
Well it looks nice at least.
It looks like they're trying to ride the coattails of the next-gen consoles. Its dumb looking.
Service doesn't mean shit, as long as they give you what you're entitled too, which they will, nothing else matters. A loose hard drive? The occasional mistake is bound to happen, and a loose HDD doesn't even matter
Well it does matter if the HDD disconnects during use and you lose data due to their total incompetence to secure a SATA cable. Service is a big part for expensive luxury items, you expect them to respond in a timely, and reasonable manner to requests for help or information. Saying service isn't important is ridiculous.
It looks like they're trying to ride the coattails of the next-gen consoles. Its dumb looking.
It's a white and green box. I'd call it simplistic, but there's not a lot that can be dumb about that.
Would be about 50 times better if it was a black box. That white and green looks awful.
why does everything look like fucking boxes?
why does everything look like fucking boxes?
introducing the gamesphere it's spherical [sp]Because it's a lot easier to compact generally square hardware into a square casing and take up as little space as possible.[/sp]
why does everything look like fucking boxes?
have you seen a pc before?
Some hardcore paraphrasing on shack's part, they said the hardware was capable of playing 1080p at 60 fps
Even the original source Engadget says "it did confirm that the hardware will run all Steam titles in 1080p resolution at 60fps." Which sounds good to me, but that depends on price.
Geezus, if I had a gun to my head and had to buy a pre-built machine, iBuyPower would be the last fucking place I would order one from.
I got mine from CyberpowerPC. Let's you pick and choose everything, but I paid maybe $20-40 more than I would have had I ordered it all from Newegg (I checked beforehand) Been going strong ever since. If all their PCs are as good quality and as reliable as this has been I'd recommend them. iBuypower though? I'd rather go to Best Buy and buy a shitty Dell with half the HDD filled with bloatware If that's what the Steambox looks like, it looks pretty nice. Like the PS4 but without the italics
