Is it fucking possible? Every headset I've ever had for my PC that is actually affordable either breaks or shorts out. (User was banned for this post ("Missed the megathread" - birkett))
Yes, it's possible. It's called 'being careful with your things'.
Buy quality products
Unless you buy skullcandies than your shit shouldn't break. Don't throw your shit around.

Sony do some good headphones that last long.
I have had the fatalities that sbradford suggested for nearly 2 years and still going strong. You should get those.
I've been using a headset for about 2 years now. It's falling apart on me now, I had to reattach the 2 "earmuffs" with electrical tape and they don't really sit on my ears anymore. I've tried to be careful with them, the earmuff parts just fell off for no apparent reason, looked like the shitty glue they used to keep them on just wore off.
Unless you buy skullcandies than your shit shouldn't break. Don't throw your shit around.
I have skullcandies for a few years now and they only broke once when my sister decided it would be fun to jump on them. They still work but the part that slides the ear cup out snapped. The lifetime no questions asked warranty got me a new pair in 5 business days.
Plantronics Gamecom 367 buy one now its epicsecksy, great quality sound and comfort. Go on youtube and search for it i think it's on tigerdirectblog.
