• Bruised rib?

Earlier today I was playing football(soccer) and I went in for a tackle and I clashed with the othe player, but he elbowed, kneed, hit or headbutt me in the ribs right at the side near enough to the armpit, but closer to the nipple. I recieved an extreme amount of pain(not the worst i've experienced, but ive never broken a bone) and couldnt stand for a bit, and was winded. I have all the symptoms of a cracked or bruised rib, soreness in my ribs, soreness from coughing, sneezing, breathing deeply etc. Once I told my mum she said I could possibly have cracked a rib, or bruised it, but thats the problem, there is no sign of a bruise, just a red mark. It is definelt ymy ribs, not my muscle and it is on the outside of my ribs not the inside. There is a low chance of anything happening to my lungs as the area that is damaged is to far to the side. Anyone know what this is? The pain has been constant since it happend around 12:10pm, it's is now 14 hours later and it's still painful, but the pain in breathing deeply is gone. On a scale of 1 to 10 of pain I've experienced it was about a 7, its now a 5 or 6, 14 hours later
You can have a compressed rib. I have one, and the only way to heal it is to do special stretching and P.T. I couldn't be bothered so now I still have it, a year or so later after receiving the compressed rib. I can't sleep on my right side or my rib is sore all day.
