Hey guys,
My home office computer (programming, Killing Floor every now and then) currently looks like this:

CPUAMD Athlon64 X2 4800+

MotherboardFoxconn C51XEM2AA nForce 570 SLI

RAM2GB G.SKILL DDR2 800

GPU8800 GTS

PSUPC Power & Cooling 750W

HDD320 GB Seagate Barracuda (x2)

Monitor2560x1600 Apple Cinema Display (30")

OSWindows XP

As you can tell, this was built many, many years ago. Now I'm looking to upgrade it for under $250, preferably in the $200 area. Not looking to upgrade for anything more than $250 (i.e. $300 is too much for this upgrade). I need to upgrade to increase my ever-degrading work efficiency. It's gotten to the point where things are too slow, too buggy, and just too old.
Here's what I've picked out so far: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=28705468
Notes:
- I'm not buying a new GPU; I want to focus on the other parts as the only game I ever play is Killing Floor, and my 8800 GTS runs it fine (IMO)
- I'm 95% sure I want an SSD; I'm going to put either Windows 7 (not part of this budget) or Linux on there, and I need the OS and all of my programs to start up as fast as possible; I'm going to keep my existing drives for all of my code
- I've picked out a basic CPU/RAM/MOBO combo that supports SATA3 and DDR3 1600
- I'm keeping everything else the same - case, PSU, monitor, etc.
These parts have been very trusty over the past couple of years (5+), but it's time for an upgrade. What do you guys think? I'm open to all recommendations and comments. Thanks!
That SSD is eating up most of your budget when you could put it into your CPU.
Question is, do you really need 128GB on an SSD?
If you can work with 64GB then this could work:

Really comes down to whether you need storage or processing power more.
I could actually go with that SSD without changing the CPU, which would reduce the price some more. I only need the SSD for the OS, which should be fine on 64 GB. Everything else stays on my existing drives.
My priorities are (in this order): price, speed, storage

I might switch the RAM to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-231-314
For an extra $10, that's 2x the memory, which is important because I tend to multitask a lot.
What do you think about this Samsung 64GB SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147133? Better or worse than this Crucial 64GB SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-148-441?
Better. Faster and more reliable.
The Samsung > the Crucial you mean?
Yeah
