Hey, I got myself in a little bit of trouble and was wondering if any of you know how to get out of it.
I'm stuck with a black screen with my mouse cursor in Windows. It's the only thing that shows up after booting Windows normally and in Safe Mode.
It happened after I uninstalled my current GPU drivers with DDU. It booted in Safe Mode, as required for DDU, and it only showed the black screen with cursor.
I've tried several things such as Startup repair, booting it in various Safe Modes, unplugging stuff, but nothing has worked so far.
Not sure what exactly went wrong with your drivers or uninstallation, but do you get to the desktop after login? Where it's only a black screen and cursor?
If so, have you tried ctrl+alt+del and opening the Task manager, if you do get to desktop with only a black screen and cursor?
Then find explorer.exe, close it, then run it again, then desktop should appear? But not completely sure, I haven't had that in a looooong time.
I didn't managed to fix it, but I do know what was causing it.
I had UxStyle installed under Windows 8.1 to use custom themes, when using DDU to do a fresh driver install it somehow broke some system files.
