I nearly taught myself to type, though I only use a few of my fingers to type: Both middle fingers, index fingers for regular keys, left pinky for shift and left thumb or right index finger for space bar.
I did a typing test on here:
http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/
Which gave me 64 WPM, but 6 wrong words. I'm not concerned so much about speed, it's just the accuracy. Since my fingers aren't being efficiently (Right index to use the space bar can't be a good thing, could that be where my accuracy be suffering?
I'm not really sure if it's worth changing, since I've been touch typing since I was about 10. I do have to mention, my accuracy and speed has improved tremendously since I hooked up my mechanical 1986 Apple Extended Keyboard.

Jump-Start was amazing, I loved their games...when I was a kid.

you could if you wanted I don't use most of my fingers for typing
Just practice or whatever.
Does it really matter that much?
Try typing with your hands on the ASDF, and JKL; keys (most keyboards have little grooves to show where your index fingers should sit on the keyboard.)
But seriously I think you're missing the point here. YOU have problem with word accuracy, not word speed, so why not use your current layout, and type slower, to ensure you spell words correctly?
I used to suffer the same with spelling words like "Tomorrow" ( I always put "tommorow") and I just kept them in my head, and when I next went to write them I'd remember to type them slowly then check them. Now I'm able to type it as fast as I can any other word.

I used that when I was little.

Please let that be shopped :ohdear:
I keep my left hand on AWD. Too much gaming.
If you can type the exact same as what I just typed under 7 seconds you should be fine.
I typed that in 5-6 seconds and I never had special lessons or whatever.

I am bored and tired, I should probably stop posting useless posts.

You typed a sentence or something, and then saw an animation of someone going through a rollerskating course thing and it would differ based on your typing speed and accuracy.
Most of the time I ended up missing all the words on purpose to see him knock down all the cones.

If you want to improve your speed, I really recommend typing a paragraph or so every day from a book without looking at the keyboard. It really helped me improve my speed and accuracy.

I've got copies of jumpstart first and second grade in my desk drawer true story

also consistently getting around 79 wpm on that typing test in OP, the transitions between sets of words keep tripping me up

Haha, I still do that in TF2. Full words, punctuation and spelling.
Thanks for the tip cdlink14, I'll try going a little slower but practicing accuracy. I paid attention to what I was doing wrong with a few threads and it was either me trying to remember the words and not spelling them correctly (Causing me to spellcheck them) or that I was pausing to think how I should structure my sentences. Occasionally I miss a key, though it's less than me just being stupid and misspelling a word.

Actually, I'm going to do that same typing test twice every day for practice. It's a very well made test in the way that it doesn't have regular sentences for you to screw up on (I sometimes want to reword it, which doesn't work in the test).
