As you can clearly see, my copy of Spore has a ..... unique way of naming things.

Uhh...
Any help? I don't want to have to deal with this forever.
Name all your city's BAD_DATA
Problem solved
oh and all creatures too
I've heard of this bug before, lemme check.
-Edit-
Go into the spore shortcut properties and where it shows the file path paste this onto the end -locale:en-us (there is a space between the filepath and the -locale:en-us bit)

Got Spore working after the patch install.
I like most other people was getting "BAD_DATA"
to fix this follow these steps:
1)Rightclick over the shortcut for Spore (If you don't have one - create one onto your desktop)
2) Select "Properties" from the menu
3) Where it says Target: it needs to read "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE_EP1\SporebinEP1\SporeApp.exe" -locale:en-us
4) All you should need to add to the target is the "-locale:en-us" bit.
This will work, HOWEVER NOTE:- Any planets or stars you have previously selected or hightlighted which said "Bad_Data" will continue to say "Bad_Data" if you saved the game, but any new stars, planets will now have proper names.
Fix that should work, Also "Rejoice! BAD_DATA was born!" Made me crack up.
Well, it's easy to fix it. First, you just have to BAD_DATA, then go into your BAD_DATA folder and BAD_DATA, and you're done. Easy as BAD_DATA.
Man, calling everything BAD_DATA is not very creative. Try John instead. Or Will. Will the earthworm sounds nice.
Oh and maybe you should buy the game instead of downloading it.
Game was fun for a while, shame they dropped it after Galactic Adventures,
I have a feeling this data isn't good.

I did buy it. That's the main problem. If I downloaded it then I would expect shit like this.
Rejoice, BAD_DATA was born!
delete system32 ect ect
The locale thing didn't work but after reopening a 5th time on the third day it took 20 minutes to load and was fixed.
