I had a home network setup for a while so I could transfer files between my Ubuntu laptop and my Windows XP desktop as well as my mac. Everything went fine, it worked, all was good. One day I went to push a file through the network and my Windows XP desktop wasn't showing up in linux. I assumed this was a linux issue so I switched to the mac and still couldn't find it.
I ran NBTSTAT and found out NetBios wasn't running. I re-enabled it and forced it to always be on for my LAN connection. I'm now able to directly access files and folders that are shared through other computers, but I can't get a directory listing, I have to type in the full file path (smb://192.168.1.4/docs instead of just smb://192.168.1.4)
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
A year. A year and not a single reply. Sucks doesn't it?
