So I plan on buying new parts for my PC this week. What I currently have is: AMD 9600 Phenom quad core ATI 4830 512 MB Gigabyte MA-770-UD3 AM2+ Motherboard 4 GB DDR2 800mhz RAM Antec 380 PSU (Fried) 400 GB HDD This is what I have so far to upgrade for my CPU and PSU. I plan on buying the GTX 460 later this year. Should I upgrade my motherboard for an AM3 or is few functions that I'm going to be using with an AM2+ not worth it? If so, is my RAM fine? If I don't get a RAM or Motherboard upgrade I plan on buying a Razer Mouse/Keyboard. I have about $80 more that I can spend. Your RAM is fine, the combo you found is quite a good upgrade, but you might want to check to be sure your motherboard support that CPU.
Personally I'd update my GPU before I updated my CPU considering your current specs

The only big difference between AM3 and AM2+ is DDR2 and DDR3 RAM... And there is a small gap between the two. Stick with your current motherboard, then upgrade to AM3 later when you get your GTX 460.
