My friend wants a new computer and he refuses to let me build it because I will pick intel ( Which is true ) and he thinks intel is overpriced shit and is being an AMD Fanboy, So basically I need a new AMD build for $1500 for my friend, he needs EVERYTHING, keyboard, mouse, OS, Monitor, HDD, case, etc. Hes only using it for gaming but he insists that he has a 1055t or greater so please include that if you can, There is no point in showing him benchmarks I've already tried. Things he wants is a 25 inch monitor, 2 TB hdd, blu-ray drive, and a really ricey looking case. Video card brand doesnt matter to him for some reason.

He also wants to overclock to 4.2 ghz on anything he gets so I guess give him a cpu cooler that would allow him to do so with decent temps IF he can even get it to overclock to 4.2 ghz.

Then don't waste your time with his build if you're going to be unsatisfied with the end result. If he's going to cripple his own build he might as well do it himself. I'm not trying to be harsh but it's probably not worth your time if somebody has a stubborn personality like that.

Thats why I'm asking you guys to make it for him, all I have to do is give him the picture and he'll buy it.

What if you show him the benchmarks for Sandy Bridge vs any AMD cpu? They all have the same results so he can't denounce them as flawed or something.

Hes just a dumb ass and theres no point in arguing with him, I've showed him that even the i3 2100 dual core could perform almost as well as the 1055t and refuses to believe it cause he thinks ghz + cores = better, and as long as he lives he wont believe benchmarks or anything anyone tells him.
Tell him that an i5 2500k can go up to 5GHz on air.

I'll try and convince him one last time, I'll have an update in 10 minutes.

Ok he said he will go the intel route, but he says if it sucks ass he's gonna kick my ass ( lol he can barely lift a gallon of milk ) so now he needs an intel build for $1500, and now he says it has to have W7 Ultimate, 2tb HDD, Blu ray drive, 25 inch monitor, really ricey case, and mouse and keyboard can be excluded from the build since hes getting a blackwidow and mamba from his mom for his birthday next month.
25" is not a standard monitor size, very few in that size range. Would he prefer dropping to 24" or going up to 27"? 24" is cheaper and technically look better due to pixel density.

He said he'll drop down to 24".
Don't help your friend with this build if he doesn't trust you to get the best bang for buck. Show him what's what IMO.
the guy sounds like an absolute dick
Yeah he can be, hes a nice guy but there are those times where he can be a dick or a dumb ass and this is both. Anyway I just need a $1500 build with everything except the keyboard and mouse, I just dont feel like helping him cause he wont like anything I give him.
I gave up because a 2TB drive that fits the budget will be a Seagate or a WD Green drive due to the price increases, neither of which I can feel good about recommending. And him wanting Win7 Ultimate which is 2x the price of Home Premium knocks $100 off the budget, so I can't give it future SLI/Crossfire support with a full tower and a good PSU, or add in an SDD.
Sorry.
Eh, WD Green's aren't as bad as Seagates, although I'm unsure if the newest >1TB Seagates have fixed their proneness to breakage. Let me see if I can pull together something nice.
Im not condoning getting pirated W7 Ultimate or anything, but moving on...
2TB? What the hell does he have, HD porn out the window? I do movie editing/modeling and I haven't even filled up my 1TB. Furthermore, if your friend is so stubborn and ignorant about computer hardware, he doesn't need 2TB for whatever he is doing. Unless HD porn.
Yeah, i've got a good 1/4 of my Steam library installed and I still have a good 300GB free on my 1TB.
He's retarded and records EVERY game he plays and never deletes it unless I do it when hes not looking, I'm just going to give him bare bones kit on newegg and a GPU and monitor and he can use my extra CD key that I'll sell to him for $130

Why would he not delete them?
Well as it stands right now a 2TB drive is gonna put a MAJOR dent in your budget
Why would he not delete them?
Cause hes like "Oh I'm gonna make a montage out of it later" So if he doesnt do anything with it after 1 week I delete it but hes constantly doing it. so everytime I delete 100 GB of data, 110 come back.

I'm going to link him to this and then a monitor and W7 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.722615
He'll just have to deal with 1 tb and a shitty HDD for that matter.

Nobody who records often should be using a single 2TB drive, especially something like a WD green. The HDD is the major bottleneck when it comes to recording gameplay. Best option for that would be a Raid setup or an SDD. But constantly writing videos to an SDD might wear it out fast so I wouldn't be too sure about that.

I actually have had one of the "prone to breakage" ones for two years now, and it's still going strong. But that's just luck and I don't know if they ever actually fixed the issue. Either way I don't like taking chances and if I'm going to recommend any drive at the moment it's the Samsung F3. Then when you fill that up HDD prices should be lower and you can buy another 1TB HDD for $50-60.
K I linked him to the barebones kit and a monitor and W7, he'll be happy except with the HDD but that'll be his fault. He said he'll buy it.
