Last night my computer was working fine then I got tired and shut it down to go to bed. This morning my computer isn't reacting to the power button in anyway. When I do press the power button the ClrCmos LED begins blinking on the back of the case and my speakers pop to the blinking LED. I have tried doing the paperclip trick and the computer powered on no problem. Can someone explain to me what happened and how I can prevent / fix it?
Motherboard:
GA-X58A-UD3R
Care to elaborate on what "paperclip trick" you're referring to?
Sticking a paperclip to the green and black connectors on the PSU. And the computer started fine except that the PSU was unconnected from the motherboard.

Interesting. So I suspect you're correct in assuming that it's probably an issue with the motherboard.
That said however, there is a chance that the issue could also be one with the power button on the case (I had an issue with this a few years back, ended up having to replace the case) or an issue with the power button connection to the mobo (though I assume you've checked this so this is less likely).
If you're able, it might be worth trying to connect the motherboard to a different case to see if that's the problem, or see if you can "jump" the power connections manually to trigger a power-on. Also, if you have access to a different PSU, it might be worth trying it, even if you can get your PSU to power with the paperclip trick, its possible there could still be an issue with its ability to power the motherboard.

Im not the original poster but I am having a simlar motherboard(?) related problem. Mine is in a boot loop where it turns on and off on ~10 second cycle. I know it isn't the PSU and I have it breadboarded down to just the motherboard, cpu, and ram. Would I be safe in assuming it is the motherboard?
Edit: Sorry for thread jacking

It doesn't boot unless I do the paperclip trick and it does not power off.
