My computer keeps bugging out and the processor that said 2.33 ghz a few days ago is now saying 2.01 ghz. It's a 6 year old processor. Was wondering if it might have broken finally and i might need to get a new one
If it's 6 years old, you need a new one anyway.
Looks like it's time for a new build
No point in upgrading or fixing tech that is 6 years old. I'd just start planning a new computer like said above.
A pc components average life expectancy is supposed to be around 4-8 years. But there is many components that have lasted up to 15 years or beyond. In total it depends on a lot of things though. if yours system is running at hot temps, it will die quicker. If it's running cool, it will live longer.

I said it'll die quicker, I never said it'll die in 5 years.
It all depends on how you use the component
