Short story long? : I've finally gotten enough used computer parts over the years to build a second rig and I'm looking for a pick and play, preferably coop, game for me and my girlfriend to play together. The rig she will be using has an AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor, gtx 760 graphics card, and 4gb ram (windows 7) so it would need to run relatively smooth on that setup, my rig can handle anything so don't worry about that. So far I've only really come up with minecraft, since I'd like to stay away from anything too complex like an RTS, competitive FPS or Moba. She hasn't ever gamed on a PC before, but we occasionally play some classics emulated on my rig, super smash bros, mario cart, etc, so this is a whole new world for her. I appreciate any suggestions!
Long story short? :
- Need a noob friendly, PC coop game to play with my girlfriend
- Needs to run smoothly on a mid range gaming PC
- Preferably something easy to play, hard to master
- Thanks :downs:
Suggest so far: (in which the boot fits)
- Magicka
- Battleblock Theater
- Portal 2
- Castle Crashers
- Divinity: Original Sin
Magicka is a pretty good game that fits what you said, should run perfectly fine
Age of empires 2 is SO fucking fun to play with people, and is really easy to work with. My uncle who's never touched a computer would always play this when he would come over.
Battleblock theater, coop + good platformer + humor
it is rts but it's like... baby rts.

I'd say portal 2 would work out well if she's into puzzle games at all
edit:
the trine series is also pretty good fun in co-op, imo
Play some good ol' Team Fortress 2 together!

And if she's really into it, you can do the co-op mode!
Battleblock theater, coop + good platformer + humor
Castle Crashers too
Starbound
Don't Starve Together
The Deer God
Orcs Must Die (1 + 2 )
all these games are fabulous to play together casually or not.
Co-op games, co-op games, co-op games.
You guys are making me feel fucking retarded, haha. Loving the suggestions so far, thanks boys.

Pretty sure it's coop, pronounced "k-oop". (This is sarcasm, it's clear you understood what I was trying to say)

I actually love me some AOE 2, a game that's always great to LAN with, but I don't think she is much of a strategy gamer, she likes puzzles, but micro/resource management isn't her thing.
Divinity: Original Sin is a great RPG which is designed heavily with two-player co-op in mind, check it out

no silly that's where chickens live
coop is a contraction of co-op which is itself short for co-operative, hence "koh-op"
Right, very difficulty to relay sarcasm via text. I'll edit my previous statement to accommodate for this.

ah nvm
morrowind
morrowind
I fucking love morrowind, it's not co-op tho bra.
MORROWIND

it's just a thought. it's great for folks when they're alone, and a good stepping stone. though it isn't co-op, it's something you should always keep on mind. i've used it as a shove to get friends to play a bit more difficult games.

You better be just talking about DS1, cuz DS2 was a fuck'n disgrace to the franchise.
Basic as fuck answer right here, but the HL2/Episode 1/Episode 2 maps on Synergy. It's always hilarious as shit, playing that with friends. I don't know what it is about that game, but there's just infinite jokes to be made, and a bunch of goofy shit to do, considering how interactive the world is.
yeah I'm talking about DS1, DS2 was ass, as far as what direction they decided to take it.

I know you're looking for PC games, but if you pick up a Gamecube for cheap or already have one, then play Mario Kart and Smash Bros with her.

Good suggestion, but we already play those games emulated on my PC all the time.

Update: Smoked a bit, had a bit to drink, and played magicka, had a great time, awesome suggestion whoever originally suggested that.
Broforce is a fun coop game, it's tons of fun with friends.
Big Rigs
Terraria, once 1.3 comes out, and Starbound if you'd like some sandbox stuff.
