mobo - Super Micro MBD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182230
32 more gigs or ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231486
for 16core/64gb ram
~$1005
I am just not sure if the motherboard supports direct IOMMU I have SSD's and HDD's so I am fine there and a 6970 and spare 550ti(because ATI driver suck on nix)
I would prefer to avoid going dual socket if possible, this will be in my P182se and and kinda short on space as it is.
If intel has anything comparable for the price I am all ears I know, only thing I see is

Vm's will be running off some 256GB and 120GB SSD's
OS: Centos 6.2
Workstation 2012
I honestly would go with the SB-E and the dual socket board. You get more performance for your buck, and the SB-E chip has far better power management and a lower TDP.
