Ok so my rig is... AMD64 7750 BE 2.7GHz Asus M2N78-VM 600W Coolermaster PSU BFGTech 9600GT 2 or 4 GB DDR2 1066 2x 160GB HDD --- I want to know whether to but the Phenom x4 BE or a new GPU. I am a 3D modeller and need really fast rendering times and need to speed up my pc overall. :) Also, cooling wise.. i have 4 or 5 case fans, normal.
Whats your budget?
Roughly, £200
Are we talking about an upgrade? Or is the rig in the OP your blue print for a build?

Really depends on what you want the most. Rendering faster or better fps in games.
Processor will give you faster rendering in 3DsMax, Maya etc. GPU will give you better FPS in games. So if you want faster rendering get the new Phenom X4.
... or a workstation card, you know, because those things are designed to speed up rendering...
Not all applications support workstation cards, besides they cost a shitload and their gaming capabilities aren't too much better than that of the normal GPUs. Workstation card is only beneficial in.. you know, workstations? I say don't listen to this chap. A Phenom II X4 945/955/965 will improve your rendering times, but I think the AM3 hexa- and octo-cores are coming in the end of next year so you might want to wait for those if you're not in a hurry, and spend your money on a GPU now to enjoy better graphical quality in games while you're waiting. And yeah, the 7750 is ridiculously slow for rendering for some reason, I didn't notice much of an improvement from E6400.
Ok Karj thats great thanks.
