Like the thread title says, I have at my disposal quite a bit of money and with black Friday coming up I was wondering how rediculously sick of a tower can I build by scratch off parts online. Or if you know of a great prebuilt setup you can recommend, please do. Any and all help would be appreciated FP :buddy:
location? do you need a monitor/keyboard/mouse/OS? P.S. you might want to wait until mid-December when the 69** cards release
No monitor or OS required. I've gotten the former and the latter covered. That said, what hardware specifications would be a good setup taking that into consideration?
location man [editline]wefwep[/editline] actually you're probably in the US because you mentioned black friday hold on let me make you something CASE: Cooler Master RC-690 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137&cm_mmc=BFUS-_-7-_-N82E16811119137&nm_mc=BFUS PSU: Cosair 750w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&cm_mmc=BFUS-_-58-_-N82E16817139006&nm_mc=BFUS GPU: EVGA GTX 580 Superclocked (it's the same price as the regular version, so why not) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130590&cm_re=gtx_580-_-14-130-590-_-Product DVD Burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151220 (Or you can consider Blu-ray) HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200rpm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148433 RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 Mobo: MSI H55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130268 CPU: i5 760 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115067 Total is $1040 w/ rebate, left a lot of room in your budget just in case you want an SSD, Blu-ray drive, new monitor, etc.
$1500 is not balls to the walls crazy :colbert:
I'd suggest waiting for the 6990 and 595 if you want crazy.
yes so maybe just get all the parts except the GPU during the black friday sale and get the GPU when it comes out (which should be mid-december)

Its worse then death stars. For $10 more get a Spinpoint F3. Seagate .12s are just horrible.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
I say wait for the 595 / 6990. Get the CM 690 II advanced instead btw. Also, go for an X58 instead of the H55..
Wow thanks for all the info guys! First off I defintely want to get the best possible options, so if waiting to get x, y, z parts is no problem. Also yes I am in the states. If someone could compile a list like the one above except with better options like the ones above that'd be awesome. :buddy:
Thats a horrible HDD. The 7xxx.12 series from Seagate is notorious for failure after 3 months. They're worse then death stars. For $10 more get a Spinpoint F3. Seagate .12s are just horrible.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
there's nothing wrong with them, the 7200.11s had problems but the .12s are fine [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] yes the F3 is better but I doubt it's $20 better
Yeah, I was originally planning on using spinpoint but I noticed that it wasn't on sale anymore since OP has a high budget, get a spinpoint if you think that extra $20 is justified
Aside from the spinpoint, what hardware is coming up in the coming weeks that I should wait for? If there are others aside from the ones you specified previously please share. Also yes I have a high budget and since I don't need a monitor or os then I want to fully commit to a balls to the walls insane computer.
Maybe the 6990 soon?
Don't make the mistake of buying the first dual GPU card to come out. Wait for the second to come out then look at some benchmarks to see which one suits you.
there's nothing wrong with them, the 7200.11s had problems but the .12s are fine [editline]26th November 2010[/editline] yes the F3 is better but I doubt it's $20 better
Yes the .11s are bad, but this particular .12 is horrible. It's failure rate is nearly 5/10.
